« on: January 10, 2019, 04:11:14 PM »

Anyone got any plans for 2019, new years resolutions of weight loss??

Its nearly 2 years since i started training. Started at nearly 19 stone and was down to 14st 4 before christmas! I put a stone on over the festive period but have started thai boxing again as well as the gym to try and add a little bit extra.

I am going to start running. Don't know why but I hate running/jogging on roadsides. I can sprint/run in match or sports all day but not outside in public.
I will start on treadmill in gym. I love to go for walks but idea of running I just hate it.
For first time in my life I want to establish a goal of running and achieve it before season starts.

That is amazing! Well done!!!!

I had a health scare in 2017 whilst playing cricket. I hired a PT and although I started eating clean i never watched my calories. Since September I have seriously watched what I eat and am nearly down 2 stone. I am currently 18 stone 2 lbs and 5 ft 11. My official week to week weigh in is Fridays, so fingers crossed tomorrow I am touching 18 stone. Just the 2 stones is making a massive difference and people who haven't seen me in ages have complimented me. I aim to get down to 15 stone but I'd ideally want to be 14 stone.

I've never been so excited about the new season as I am this year - I feel like a new player! Last 3-4 seasons have been a bit meh!

All I will say is you need to be patient and don't give up and last of all....  you can't out exercise a bad diet!

I’ve snuck up to 16 stone, ive rejoined a pt place where they sort your diet and your gym plan which they tailor to your sport. Ive start playing rugby again. Hopefully my ankle will not crumble again first week of the season and contribute to undoing all the hard work

I am lucky in that I have always loved the gym so it has never been a chore to stay fit, but in terms of something that has been beneficial to my performance on the field, I have found boxing to be really useful in developing more explosive power in my batting as well as building the sort of conditioning required for a sport like cricket where you have intervals of exertion and rest.

My brother is running the Brighton marathon in April so I'm tracking workouts to help motivate him. Parkrun is my limit for running, much longer without a ball to chase and I get bored.

My stamina is already good, so I'm working on strength in order to aid concentration and balance, of course power as well. Need to get back on the yoga mat as my lower back is problematic at the moment, occasionally stopping the me completing my action and affecting my dynamism on the crease.

If you're looking for help losing weight have a look at the my fitness app. It's free and basically you just put in or scan the barcode of what you're eating and it takes it off your daily calorie allowance. I lost 5 stone on it a few years ago and use it now and again to help out.

+1 for My Fitness Pal. I lost 3 stone on it a few years ago. Just started up with it again in Jan after 2 of those stones snook back on.

Really useful for tracking your diet.
