New Woodstock
« on: January 22, 2019, 06:01:56 PM »

Hi All,

Today I traveled to see John at Woodstock in order to get a couple of bats refurbished and pick up a new stick for the coming season. My brother and I have been going to John for bats for around 7 years now and have never been disappointed. As any of you who have had a bat from him may know, his customer service is exceptional and he always makes you feel welcome and wanted as well as providing a quality product. Today was no exception.

I arrived at John's workshop (read shed) after an interesting car journey involving HGVs and tiny country lanes. He immediately welcomed me in and we had a catch-up about how my previous season had gone and about the last bat I had purchased from him. After this we moved onto the selection of my new bat. I was interested in the Classic shape as this was the same as the last bat I had and John said he had a couple of special blades in the shop currently. He then rummaged around for about 30 seconds and produced two enormous sticks from his stock. He then proceeded to tell me that these were two pro sticks and were actually meant for Tim Ambrose who was coming to the workshop next week. As I was a longtime customer of his he told me that he would be able to let me have one of these bats for the same price as his normal Players LE edition. To say I was excited was putting it mildly! Anyway enough talk, I imagine many of you only read these reviews for the pictures anyway:

Specs -

11 grains
37 mm edge
58 mm spine
28 mm toe at centre
23 mm toe at edge
15 mm shoulder
2.95 weight 1 grip
2.11 fully gripped (2 & 1/2 grips)

It might not have the best grains but the ping is amazing and the pick up is exceptional for such a full profile, I can't wait to get it knocked and played in and to hit some balls in the nets!

Thanks,
SR

I'm pretty sure he works with handled clefts similar to the way JPGavan does things. I'd say if you want something done specifically I'd shoot him an email as it's usually his wife who answers the phone. He has done different handle shapes for me so I think you'd be able to get what you want done.

Stunning bat - good luck.

There’s one I saw earlier on eBay that I was tempted by! Even more so now

I've been thinking of heading to Woodstock. He's connected with Ansty so a club discount for one thing, but my team mates who use them all have quality bats that perform and last. This sort of post makes me want to stretch my overdraft even further!

#admin perks, grabbing kit before the sale thread is approved!
@petehosk is occasionally adept at this!

In the meantime @Shiva_ruxin enjoy this bat, I hope you score loads if runs with it.
