Trainer spiking

I've been looking at getting some trainers spiked ahead of the season. What is the best place people recommend getting them done?

I've looked at the shoe doctor but with postage it will be about 65 quid to get them done.

Yes me too. Does anyone known if it is straightforward to do it yourself? The companies I have seen charge quite a lot.

your best getting them spiked by a company otherwise you will ruin them. M & H do them, think there called the cricket doctor or spike doctor. Cost £50 which is a bit expensive in my book.

The thing is with getting trainers spiked is that you have to....

A. Really need comfy trainers to play in.
B. Get the trainers you are getting spiked for a very cheap price because when you add the spiking on top it gets just if not more expensive than top end cricket spikes.

I got some Reeboks on sale in Sports Direct which kept the price down. It's a great place to look.

I might be wrong, but I think Owzat do it. I looked into it (very briefly) a couple of years ago but, as people have already mentioned, found that it wasn’t worthwhile in terms of cost.

Can we use track or running spikes on cricket field? I saw few good looking running spikes and thought if I could use them in season?

They won’t offer much support for your ankles or anything as aren’t designed to be used on grass on that isn’t completely flat.

Wouldn’t advise this... track spikes are designed for running in a fairly linear fashion. Providing little to no support for lateral changes of direction or deceleration both of which are very important whilst fielding

Also rip your legs apart when you dive and the spikes go into you! blood everywhere!

My view is that if trainer spiking costs about £35 and decent trainers about £50 then you have to ask yourself can I find a pair of cricket specific spikes I like.
I have used spiked trainers for years and now use the adidas sl spikes. Honestly I think there isn't much in it, but I suspect the cricket shoes give me better support.

I looked at going down this route a year or 2 ago

and fancied going for something like the javelin boots not sure on how light they are or if cricket spikes can be put into them
