Hi guys,

A friend took a video of me batting at my first net of the pre-season period.

Looking at it, I am really struck by the fact that when the ball is released, and I'm preparing to strike the ball, the bat tucks in, and the bat seems to be coming from a very fine fine leg?! I know conventional wisdom is that the bat should really be coming from 1st slip, yes?

Anyone got any tips/drills on how to remedy this sort of issue? I think it's affecting my ability to access the ball when it's on my pads/hip. Or do you think there's no issue here? Video detailed at the bottom of this post.

Not convinced that it is coming from fineleg, the angle from which the camera is may be misleading. Your right hip opening up would be causing you to slice the ball and nick off. Try to lead more with your front shoulder and relax your knees

Doesn't look like fine leg more like first slip it looks like your not going to  bring your bat down straight for me everything is to open to play the straighter ball on your pads I would start with your pick up and get everything into line and as suggested lead with your front shoulder.

Any tips on drills/exercises on how to loosen the knees and lead more with the front shoulder?
