Powerspot Refurb
« on: March 09, 2019, 09:05:44 AM »

I picked up an old GN Powerspot and decided to go full refurb and not keep original labels. Wasn’t in too bad condition and has finished up pretty good.

Remarkable 😀😀
No one would have guessed if you hadn't told, how long did it take for refurbish? Are you going to use it? 🙂

Thanks. Only a couple of hours once I decided to get the old labels off. And a couple of weeks sending to GN to relabel. Not sure what to do with it yet but won’t personally be using it.

Just keep it, 😀
Previously I was thinking of buying new powerspot, when I read it's is powerful and concentrated on small area, then I thought it will be more suitable for proper batsmen who most of the times hit the middle 🙂
Is this true for this bat or is it my imagination?

a great refurb well done - the bat's come up lovely and just goes to show how the oil really does just sit on the surface of the wood.

Also great to see how different the shapes are and how modern bats seem so much bigger with their thick edges

Yes, it really was just sitting on the surface and didn’t take much at all

I actually raised my eyebrows and said 'blimey' out loud when I saw the results. Top job!
Love a restoration job that brings an oldie back to fight again.

Thanks. It’s always good getting the older bats looking like new. A bargain for £10

Yes, great bargain, it looks really good. You have the same problem I have with gluing the cracks on the toe. The repair looks great, but it's very hard to hide it so you don't get dark lines at the crack. I've tried filling with sawdust/ glue mix and just glue, but it still highlights the line of the crack, especially once it's oiled. Of course, if we are then selling them on it's probably more honest to see where the cracks are, but it wouid be nice to get them to blend in with the natural wood colour. Any suggestions? Someone said to use clear adhesive, which I'll try on the next refurb
