Looking at their ranges from years gone by, just wondering if someone can tell me whether the numbers are in any way a reference to price/quality? ie. is the v1200 better than both the v500 and v600?

It was the bat shape that was the difference.  The top of range bat was the same price it across the range (£195 around 1999-2000)

Means nothing at all in terms of grading. It's basically the variation in model names such as GM with Icon, Noir, Haze etc etc

I notice the v1200 has a kind of scooped toe, the rest look the same traditional shape to me.

I think that the v800 has scoops taken out of the back at various times and but otherwise my recollection of bats from 20 years ago is that there was a lot less variation in profiles than there is now

If I remember correctly, when the V800 came out (nearly 20 years ago?) it had some pretty impressive scoops out the back - was it a couple of scoops and a couple of circular indentations(?!). I had a V500 at the time that teammates dubbed ‘hernia bat’ due to the weight. Had one hell of a middle though.

Google image search of the V800 does throw up some good images from the vintage bats thread.

I've got a V800 (Classic maybe) at home which is in decent nick, but could do with a refurb and needs regripping.  Part of the binding has come away a little, but merely needs re-stuck, hasn't degraded or anything.  If any of you want to take it from me you can have it - you'll have to pay the postage though, or collect from the North-East.  SH, weighs about 2lb 9oz.  Can stick a couple of photos up if required.

Hiya mate, I'd take it as a refurb project if it's available.

Looked at the bats in Sports :direct today and the bats have a card  stating Each  V number is refererence to  the middle position ie low middle  low to mid middle etc.
