JP Gavan bats
« on: March 21, 2019, 07:45:49 AM »

As in the 2019 kit thread, my custom JP Gavan Professional Plus arrived this week. Took a bit longer than expected because of the massive amount of repairs Josh had in recently (if you follow his Instagram you can see why) but absolutely worth the wait. As soon as I heard a knock at the door I knew what it was, so I was like a kid at Christmas!

What I wanted was a copy of my original B3 that broke last winter, as I haven't got on with my new B3 so well as the original (more of that will be mentioned elsewhere). Specs are as follows:

Weight requested was between 2lb8 and 2lb10. Comes in at 2lb10 on Josh's scales, and picks up beautifully.
Professional Plus grade willow (Grade 1, only below the Featherblade in Josh's range).
Semi oval handle, white grip and blue stickers.

Also pictured is my Featherblade that Leachy helped set me up with. It is a shorter blade/normal handle combo in 2lb9 and goes like the clappers.

Suffice to say, these along with my Ace stickered Hunts County will be in my match bag this season. Both are absolute beauties but the Professional Plus needs running in so won't be used until late pre-season back home.

Looks great mate.

His bats have come a long way. You able to tell us the price?

Cheers

The Pro Plus was 600 Australian Dollars, whilst the Featherblade would normally be 900 direct from Josh.

Looks good, however I'm unsure on your sizing? Shouldn't the full size of the bats be the same size, just with a shorter blade? Or did you specify that you wanted something like a harrow size overall (if the bat on the left is a SH)?

Pro Plus is standard SH. Featherblade is a shorter blade and standard length handle so about an inch shorter in total than the Pro Plus.

A couple of fabulous looking bats, the new has a beautiful shape.

Fair play to Josh, he's making lovely bats and seems to have a real passion for his craft. Lovely to see.

Are you quite short then?
