Unless he is sharp normally, the length should always be making you come forward early season. Too many cuts and pulls when he should be making you drive 90% of the time.

Our midweek league has a tv channel. That was lost when play cricket decided to ruin there site,

I have just managed to convince the committee to use YouTube instead.

And here is one of our games.

That is the midweek premier, and due to the fact the editor seems only interested in wickets and not much also. Makes it look very amatuer.
Odd six though

We do have professionals play in our league(amazingly). Jaco castle be one of the south africans, and he appears in this vid. Enjoy, lol

After a distinctly average start to the season I had a 30 minute session with the bowling machine last night just trying to carve out a bit of form. I did a bit more than just working on driving but here is a little taster of my desperate search for the middle of my bat.

Started up autumn/winter nets a couple of week ago.

Decided to film a session and I haven't edited anything out other than when I pick up the balls etc, so this is an honest account of an average session that I do (less the last bucket which I had to leave out because it would not let me load a clip longer than 15 mins for some reason).

It is two buckets of driving, two of cutting and one of sweeping.

Nothing extravagant because I practice trying to hone my technique, not T20 styled manufacturing of shots. Having said that, I play some upper cuts in the cutting buckets.

Feel free to critique, and/or comment on "style like" etc. Thanks in advance.

Vic, that is a pretty interesting and unconventional stance I must say you get into before the ball is delivered. Is that something you have always used or something you have developed over time.

That trigger movement is courtesy of my coach who has reshaped my technique over the last 4 years. Before that, I had modelled my game on Graham Gooch's set up since I was 12.

The trigger movement across my stumps works for me.

Not a bad trigger movement, although it does get you in trouble when playing the cut shot. You're almost shaping up for that every ball, and you're trying to cut balls that are too close to you which you should be driving off the back foot. Just my opinion!

I end up doing something similar when facing a bowling machine, it's just the missing all the visual cues and the need to get set a bit quicker.

I find that against the machine, the trigger movement is far more exaggerated as it not triggered by the bowler's delivery.  I hate the machine for this reason!

Ive tried to lose the trigger Ive used all my life because I was a walking LBW candidate last year.  Found I was getting across all three and then not moving my feet again!

Love the soundtrack...
You might benefit from watching the Mark Ramprakash videos which were posted yesterday looking at your grip, stance and backlift.

The soundtrack seemed to get softer every time you played a good shot. What pads are you wearing?

Resurrecting an old thread as there didn't seem to be any point in creating another. An edit of my first hit in a number of weeks with my coach yesterday, a bit rusty and a few things to work on. My first video on here - Please feel free to comment/give feedback/advice  :)

Apologies for the quality, my GoPro doesn't seem to like the indoor lighting
