Hameed back in form
« on: April 05, 2019, 08:34:35 PM »

Good to see Hameed back in the runs, albeit against a Uni side but I really hope he is back on track to find the form that got him selected for England again. His double hundred is more than he managed last season I believe

Yes hopefully it was a blip. After that finger injury he was never the same. He has age on his side..

Probably psychological... with him being so young... hopefully he can sort it out...

What sort of standard is uni cricket in comparison to league cricket? I’d imagine a league or two lower than minor counties

Possibly even lower...?

But a double century is a double century and hopefully help him no end.

Most if not all of that Loughborough team will have played minor counties or county 2nd team cricket

Loughborough are a far better side than a minor county.  Around County 2ndXI standard

Let’s not big up 2xi cricket too much.. glos are dire and they have just played a kid who is utter tripe and a spinner in 1xi stuff who is also tripe.

Just treat it for what it is, a beat up game vs lesser oppos but for hammed.. it is at least some runs.. he is the only player we have who looos even remotely like a capable top 3 bat for England, so let’s pray he continues with some form

Good confidence building exercise, even if the oppo weren’t the strongest. Build him back up slowly

Hameed with a Ton today, what a great time for him to find form again with a super summer ahead, if he can string a few scores together could be an inclusion into the Ashes squad and would hopefully give a player to allow our stroke players to build an innings around. And before people say anything scored against a decent bowling attack in Finn, TRJ and Murtagh

Very good seam bowling attack on display for Middlesex to hit a ton against.  Hopefully gives him the confidence he needs for a strong summer

Anyone else notice the dodgy sticker job on his bat today, the pictures on the bbc county championship feed just before his ton, he's been sponsored by GN long enough that he should know which way round the stickers go.

Is GN spelt correctly? May have fallen for a fake off ebay

Best news this season already Hameed has hit some form. Agree with others he needs a good season this year before getting back into International games, he's not in the one day teams so CC games are a bit....well let's be honest crammed in April and September...so the one day cricket, not just this year, gets the best conditions available. That's how it is in the modern game.

Be interested to see him bat now if he has changed anything, plenty of posts on here saying England tried to change this and that but not aware of this,if true, myself. We(England) do have a history of doing that thou-Anderson and Finn for example.

If nothing else some runs with shut up the dinosaur that is Paul Allott, an average cricketer stuck in the past with few brain cells.

Young players need time and patience and more time and patience.

Hameed has the potential to be a very good England player, we are not flush with potential Test openers.

Agree I have everything crossed he is the long term successor to Cook with someone we can look to build and innings around and can blunt the new ball to allow our devastating middle order to play there attacking natural games. Now just got to hope this isn’t a flash in the pan innings.
