Asics GEL ODI
« on: April 13, 2019, 10:08:31 AM »

Hey guys,

I am looking for a new pair of batting shoes, I am looking for lightweight and comfortable shoes, I've had Adidas SL22 Boost last few seasons and they are pretty good but I dont like the hard plastic soles, my feet start hurting after playing matches. I am 46 so looking for something more comfortable but lightweight. How are asics GEL ODIs as compared to adidas SL22 boost?

Thanks guys

Why not the standard sl22?

Nice soft sole, incredibly comfortable!!

I have SL22 too but never use them the difference in weight is about 100g from normal SL22 to Boost and thats huge when u bat for 20-30 overs in every match. Boosts are so light you dont even feel like you r wearing spikes. The only issue I have with them is the hard plastic soles they have. Thats why this year I am interested in trying something else.

Any suggestions?

I have the boosts for fielding and wanted a comfortable batting show with spikes.
I watched the sales and grabbed some Asics gel 100 not out that feel great.
But then grabbed the Asics gel advance 6 spikes in the sale and they feel light and really lush on!!

Sorry to change the topic slightly... does anyone use boosts to bat in ? Just found it interesting a few people using for fielding and using spikes for batting... I like batting in trainers   so thought boosts would give me better grip but that trainer feel. I prefer bowling spikes when fielding due to a bad ankle.

i did use them for a few games, terrible to bat in, offer no grip at all, slipped many times, switched back to asics

@Northern monkey batted in the boosts too but i dont think he got on with them as no good for quick turning between runs.

Hmmm I didn’t like batting in em really
Just lose a little power I felt, as they do slip a little, especially on bone dry wickets.
Also slipped when turning to go for a two

But,,, I do absolutely love em

Guys I bought both Boost and GEL ODI and to my surprise they both weigh almost the same. GEL only weighs 10 grams more than boost. Both are comfortable...just wow ...proper batting spikes that are as light as the boosts...just wow.

Size 8 GEL ODI: 339g
Size 8 1/2 Boost: 329g

I'll keep the GELs this year and see how they go...
