A Blast from the Past
« on: April 27, 2019, 06:15:33 PM »

Look what I picked up:-

The bat was 2'12 in long handle with 2 grips. However whipping off the grip and chopping the handle knob off got it down to 2'10. Feels it's weight despite the highish middle. No damage to speak of and still responds well off the mallett.

I never owned a SAF as I think he finished making bats or left the forum just before I joined. Always loved his stickers and shapes always looked good. From memory was a bit of a lottery how well they played wasn’t it??

Anyway this one has a lovely shape, very Newbery GT or M&H Harliquin

Chris, I thought you had been on the forum forever  ;)

Not sure what the reason was for the odd dodgy bat but he did make some fine bat's. This one came from guy who played with Marcus, who sourced the bat for him from Andy. I was careful to mallet test it first and it seemed to respond nicely.

Shape wise I think it looks similar to an Amplus but with smaller edges and no concaving. Can't comment on the bat's you mentioned as I haven't seen them close up.

The last pic is better but the bat looks great! Shape looks like an Amplus.

It looks a like a great find!

Measured the dimensions

30mm edge
63mm spine
Toe 28-30mm at spine, 10mm at corner

It has a proper 7mm camber on the face.

Surprising really as it doesn't look a big bat.
