What Is Mental Toughness?
« on: April 29, 2019, 01:18:33 PM »

This is a great article! Mental toughness is an oft repeated phrase on the cricket field and it leaves people more confused and befuddled than ever. God bless this man for clearing the fog and myth around a concept that only (magically) applied to the best in the world. :D

massive thanks for sharing that!!!

i am in a bit of sh1tty situation at my club at the moment (being asked to play 1s, when i should be in the 3s) and have always been a massive pessimist about my own cricket and life in general really (which i find few understand at my club) - reading that has made me think about the sh1tty situation differently and has helped!!!

It is a good article that the majority of the cricket world would do well to take note of. Very few other sports write an individual off for not being “mentally tough enough” as happens in cricket far too frequently. Thanks for sharing
I've posted about this before, being a goalkeeper is plenty tough enough and I think a good 50% of that position is mental!

^ You just need the Kindle app, don't need the device. You can download the Kindle app on your ios/android phone, mac, or ipad. It works.

There seems to be a prevalence of mental health problems in cricket which isn't quite seen in other sports. I wonder if that is a result of all the talk around being mentally tough and the inevitable self doubt it can cause when a player isn't in form.
