I prefer the look of pads like this - https://www.woodstockcricket.co.uk/airstream-batting-pads

no real reason, just aesthetics

Hey guys!!!

When I have a spare hour, I’ll comment on this - I have somewhat of a decent knowledge as to what makes a good pad 😂😂😂

I’ve had a pair of GM limited edition for about 4 years. They’re starting to look a little worn and some of the seams have started to fray but I find them too comfortable to replace.

The leather instep has stood the test of time as I find that’s where I find a lot of pads go first

Light weight, leather instep, lots of canes or round foam(!) Not overly long straps, protective.
Bright blue trim.
Indifferent on the round or triangle canes, not a particular fan of flat front cans at the moment.

7cane front - I prefer the traditional look.
Close fitting - to make running easier.
Lightweight - I have just got some Adidas XT 3.0 which (6 canes) come in superlight around 650 grams each.decent protection.
Top hat - Shortish, angled-back top hat - to be as unobtrusive as possible.
Straps - padded, ideally, perhaps with towelling.
Protection/padding - how about some degree of removable padding to add/ remove as needed; according to the bowling/ preferences. This may help with earlier points (weight and size), too.

Oh, and a little bit of red somewhere, to help us run as fast as possible..

ditto. Once youve worn a decent pair of 2 strap pads you wont go back to 3 strap. You  get what you pay for with the morrants

Damn, accidentally voted for cane when I meant foam. Not even a discussion imo, massively prefer foam. Lighter and more flexible. Rounded foam like the legends looks dreadful though, Kookaburra style all the way.

Top end pads costing £100 plus, will all be excellent in design and protection, then it's personal preference which one likes the most.
GN Pro Performance  for me, foam, best protection, very light, can't feel them on and classical looks
