I use white Bola Jr balls with my Bola Jr machine. After last season, the white balls accumulated lot of dirt and hardened dark/black gunk (white of sand/clay) on the surface. I fed the balls in the machine and machine is unable to forcefully throw them. The balls just plop out of the machine with little or no force. Because of the hardened gunk/grime, the balls are so smooth that wheels are finding little to no traction.

I tried washing the balls with soap water but the streak of hardened gunk wouldn't leave the surface. I used my finger nails to scratch some gunk off and it worked. I have a dozen balls and that's a lot of scratching (meaning time) which I don't want to do.

Have you guys run into this issue with your Bola Jr white balls? How did you clean them so that the machine could once again throw them forcefully? Thanks.

On the note of bola, is there anywhere that repairs them? We got burgled a few weeks ago and the person took the machine out decided about 400 metres away it was too heavy to carry on lifting and just left it in a field, in the box, we found it a week later but it had rained heavily all week. Dried it out and it still wont start up properly, any sites/ email addresses of people that repair them would be really appreciated. Issue is that it starts up gets to 3mph then cuts out.

@InternalTraining it is time for new balls, they are a consumable item ultimately.

I'd imagine that if the balls are coated with 'gunk', then the throwing wheels would also have a coating?
A good soak in some hot water and detergent should soften most things, and a wire brush would be the easiest way of scrubbing things clean.
Also thought that a trip through the dishwasher might help, depending on how well you and the missus see eye to eye.
