Sticker branding
« on: June 20, 2019, 08:35:58 AM »

So I'm looking to get some stickers made up for the couple of bats I've done so far and to use on ones I'll be producing moving forwards. I've had a positive response and really enjoy it, so want to carry on if even just as a sideline/hobby. My main issue is what to call them? Would people go with my surname (Scott), or something different?

Any ideas and thoughts welcome.

My advice is to write down all your ideas, shortlist your favourite ones out of that list and then consider names that could be incorporated with a logo ect..it might help to approach it from a customer's perspective.
Personally id go with something you have a connection to in some way or something that you're passionate about, or even just an idea that you keep coming back to as you will naturally put more time and effort into it that way.

Great advice mate. I've narrowed it down to two names at the moment, just unsure which way to go. So just wondered if people have a preference visually, not that stickers should matter obviously but they do to a lot of people  :D using your name is obviously more personal, but wouldn't necessarily be the best for others if you see what I mean.

Do you mind if I ask what you've narrowed it down to? I've recently been in the same boat and I have a real interest in brand and Image development so I might be able to offer some insight.

Think I'm leaning towards my surname tbh. I've been having a play trying to mock up some stickers just printing bits off to see how they'd look on a bat, but obviously it's difficult to get a true idea. I'm not sure it would be worth putting the pics on here as they are, I'd get crucified!  :(

If anyone is good with design and could mock some images up cheap enough I'd be interested. I've got a mate who's a graphic designer but he's so busy it could take forever.

I could possibly help with some very basic designs, I've designed my own stickers that are currently in production, feel free to message me if you want to see my work. but alternatively you could always try the Fiverr app if you wanted to go the professional route from scratch, there would be plenty of reasonably priced graphic designers on there.

For what it's worth, I'm a big believer in 'less is more'. I hate the reflective, lurid and flashy designs of some manufacturers.
I really like the traditional stickers but that's probably more a reflection on my mindset than anything. I love the branding of Blank Bats, the GN Legends, Phantom, Mighty Willow, older Newbery and L&W. You actually get to see the wood and craftsmanship, not like a BDM or SS where they have embraced the Lamborghini styling mantra of 'if some is good, more must be better'.
I'm looking at getting one laser etched at the moment, I'll keep you updated on progress and cost.
Are you in Australia?

No I'm in the UK mate. Yeah I know what you mean. I like some 'busier' stickers but then a lot go OTT in my opinion. For instance I don't mind the Keeley ones, but really don't like the CA ones, which aren't much busier tbf. I quite like the Kite ones with just the black writing on the back at the minute. But then I liked the Kippax ones with the large black branding on the back from last year too, which weren't everyone's cup of tea. Appreciate the feedback tho.

Can I put my 2 cents worth and say " minimum stickers bats look the best. It shows that you are not hiding anything.
