Watching one of the Keeley videos someone mentioned he �double presses� his bats. Please could someone explain what the advantage of this is, and if it provides a marked advantage why more people don�t do it?

Agree it�s just marketing BS, any decent bat maker will press each bat individually this could be once through the press or multiple times. It�s the same as this G1+ pro grade etc nonsense just a term to charge a premium price for a brands top end bats

Not long ago had a GN which had had the bat face and the middle of the back pressed it enabled you to play the reverse sweep without changing your grip IE double pressed.

I actually heard someone say this to me about a Keeley and I realized then that the marketing hype was getting out of control.

People are paying big bucks for these bats which is another shocker.

So just to clarify - the point of pressing is to increase the density of the wood - and each piece of wood will require different amounts of pressing? Is that correct?

Unsure of benefits but GM bats go through 2 different presses..

Correct. Each piece of timber needs more pressure applied to the bat or more/less runs through the press in order to acheieve optimal performance. There is only 1 type of pressing. To say a bat is double pressed might refer to the bat being pressed pre and post handling, but that still has FA affect on the outcome. It has either been pressed well or not.

The amount of bats TK makes I wouldn't be surprised if his process is to press everything to a generic pressure then go back and repress to the optimum performance, just to optimise the time spent per bat.

All company's have there own pressing methods but pre and post handle pressing does happen ive seen it.

Is the pressure used in the press variable or consistent then?

The press is set prior to the bat being passed through and if needed the pressure adjusted by the batmaker accordingly.

Wasn't there story that the higher spec Newbery bats (when TK was still there) would go through a special secretive pressing process which turned out the were triple pressed?

Was it IJC that mentioned it or did I imagine it?

Wasn't it the Kudos 2 that had this secret pressing method?
I'm sure I remember something like that (or we imagined the same thing!)
