Would you accept this?
« on: July 08, 2019, 02:01:41 PM »

Hello all,

I ordered a new bat from all rounder cricket but it came with some damage on the back. It won’t affect the performance but I am disappointed. It looks like it has been sustained during the knocking in process as it was properly packaged for transit. Also does anyone think this sort of damage could be repaired?

TIA

Hard to tell if it can be repaired with no description on pictures!

What kind of damage is it? (Photos are idea as it's easier to see it than try and visualise it from a description)

Sorry some technical difficulties there - can you see that?

Yeah, it's there now

For that I'd suggest you put a damp cloth over the damaged area, steam it until the dent "pops out" then give it a fine sand so it's nicely finished again.

Glue and a clamp.........

It’s a bizarre one, as even with a cover and protection...... it’ll look a lot worse than that after some game usage.

So I’d be in the thought of, if it’s got some ping and a nice pick up, jsut use it.

If it’s got no ping/little ping/needs opening up , then try use the damage to send back......

You’ve got to feel for shops though, they have to display the bats, let the customers have a feel and look, but there soft willow, they all look to have a few dents in them from going on and off the racks.

Yes definitely try the cloth and steam iron trick. I have been amazed how dents can be fixed in a few minutes this way.

Ok that worked brilliantly!

Has made the bat feel a but ‘furry’ in the area where the steam was - should I just sand and oil now?

Very fine sandpaper, don't be using a coarse grit on it!
