I saw the pressers, I think Paine is raring to go and start the Test match. Root looks relaxed. Paine wants to make a mark and that could translate to a fiery game.

Anyone else looking at this as a very big series for bairstow? Yes a great years or so but nothing significant for a couple of series
Great in one dayers but big holes in technique when the ball moves around

Or have I got the wrong player here? I like bairstow..but not at the expense of Foakes in the keeping position...

Of the 11 selected, I think only Root, Stokes and Anderson would make it into everyone's final 11, the other 8 are all open to debate. There have been far worse England teams but I can't recall many where so few were nailed on for their places.

As such I think naming the side early is a show of support in those who have been selected.  Moen spoke earlier in the week about his own lack of confidence.  Anything that might give the lads an extra boost seems sensible to me

Bairstow is massively overrated and is fortunate to be in the Test squad let alone the playing XI. Bairstow is an average keeper yet his one day slogging gets him selected over Foakes

Guess it helps when the captain is a childhood pal...
