He was dropped by Archer this morning.  As abject as we have been, we had the chances to end this innings before Australia had amassed a score to set up the game
I don't think archer had a chance it came back double the speed. Anyway he's out now

BBC : “So we've learnt Steve Smith has a weakness to no ball's from left-arm spinners and trying to reverse sweep part-timers when he's into the 200s.”

Plot Twist...

Overton brought into the team to bat 3 😂

Jeez, when are the England selectors going to pick proper openers.

So Burns has already outscored Harris and Denly made more than Warner. We're ahead man for man at this stage.

Overton batting at 3 also means Root gets to come in at 4 where he prefers and Roy will be a proper middle order player at 5.

Overton.  He remains the wrong selection (our fourth seamer needed to be more different to the other three - so a left armer or someone a bit quicker/bouncier) but actually, has been quietly impressive - bowled with intelligence, and got Labuschagne with a classic one two, and showed gumption this evening.

No criticism of Denly from me, he has taken one for the team.

He’s opening because Roy gets to bat when the ball is older. Whether he can make it at 4 remains to be seen.

Whether Denly should be playing probably splits opinion on here but he is stepping up because there’s no others suitable in the team currently.

And yes I was an opener for 25 odd years so I’m biased!!

:) hoping for a draw here and win or bust at the Oval. Can't see us getting 450-500 to put any pressure on.
The Aussies are good and they have the best batsmen in the world who has been simply superb.

Havnt seen any highlights but sounds like England wanted a green track and movement as Bairstow has all but said.

Old Trafford used to be quick and spun later but has normally been a good track to bat on.

Do England have the right to have the wickets we want ? Said before the series we need wickets that move to win and the batsmen will have to lump it.
