GM or Kookaburra
« on: July 28, 2019, 08:59:29 PM »

Hi everyone
I am developing a taste for GM and kookaburra so maybe in future I might buy one of them. But I would like to know your reviews on both. GM is forum favourite but I haven't heard much about kookaburra.
In GM range I like Haze and Hero due to their toes being thicker than other models I believe. Haze is first choice as can get it in light weight.
Rampage is choice from kookaburra as I like it's full profile.

All suggestions are welcomed.

Not a fan of GM at all except for the Players editions. Those are amazing. Off the shelf GM's are meh in my opinion.
Kookaburra's are starting to get a lot fuller but still light and to me are closer to what actual Pro's are getting.

GM for me because Kookaburras are now just glorified SG. If u want to buy Kookaburra, just buy SG instead at a cheaper price. As far as value for money is concerned u cant beat GM

GM bats

Kook softs are outstanding (i know this is a bats thread)

I have a Noir (although not using as needs a bit more prep its very soft) and kook softs perfect gear for me so much so i dont think that'll change for a while

Which SG model is the Kahuna shape with oval handle?

I think what they meant is that Kooks are made by SG. So pressing would be same but different shapes

I don't know the shapes that well but I'd bet on it that one of the SG bats isnt far off the kahuna shape. From what I have seen (correct me if I'm wrong) but the Kahuna shape is pretty classical and am sure theres many bats with similar shapes.

I have always loved kooks, but have only used a GM once and couldn't say anything bad about it either. would be great if GM followed grays and kookaburra and brought out a retro design occasionally with retro decals.

failing that, go for the kookaburra ghost, best bat they have brought out since the bubble

Even if Kook were made by SG factory, I wouldn't say get a SG instead if you want a Kook. Kook and SG don't feel same at all, the designs are quite different. I personally feel Kooks have better designs and come in lighter weights compared to SG, not to mention the oval handles on the Kooks.
Also not sure on the pressing being same on Kook and SG. The SGs and Kooks I have used did not feel similarly pressed at all.

So go for a Kook if you want a Kook unless you like something specifically in SG or elsewhere.

I want to try some non Asian brands but within budget. I did not know where Kooks were made but like their shape. GM was first choice as they are cheaper compared to Kooks and you can get a deal on them sometime. I don't like GM thin toes.

Noir and Mythos from this years range, Kaha and chrome from last years range, all have pretty chunky toes. Neon isnt too bad either considering its a high middle bat
