Hi,

I wonder if there is a list of manufacturers that have complied with the new standards. I know Masuri, Shrey, GN, ayrtek, Forma have mentioned that they have complied but there are new manufacturers like Moonwalker etc who don�t have any information on their websites whereas some pros are wearing them already.

They withdrew from the market when their helmets weren�t upto the latest standard and required a redesign

That's disappointing. I have been using their top of the range helmet and love the fit . This means that I need to buy a new compliant one.

According to the list, a number of the manufacturers haven't tested their junior lids against senior balls. Isn't this a bit of a problem? Our Senior sides often have Junior players, as do many of our oppos. Shouldn't the kids be sure their helmet meets regs against the heavier ball?

@JK Lewis I think the cost of testing may be a deterrent when it comes to testing junior lids against senior balls.

However, I think it could be assumed the junior lids are safe to use against adult balls as the junior ones are smaller, meaning the gap will be smaller. As long as the junior lids are structurally sound (they should be having passed the junior test) an adult ball won't be able to get through.

You have to consider the weight as well mate. Imagine crashing into a pigeon at 80mph, and crashing into a cat at 80mph (i have done both and the results a very nasty and expensive)

Yes, that's what I was thinking too. A senior player with a hard 5 1/2oz ball is very different to a junior with a 4 3/4.

The standard is clearly marked on the packaging and also the helmet itself, so a junior (parent) should be well aware of what they are buying well before parting with their money. If they want to ensure their child has a helmet that passes against junior and senior balls then they can.

A similar problem arises for women�s cricket as there isn�t even a safety standard for a women�s ball.

They�ve been off the scene for 4+ years now. If it was that much of a concern you�d surely have addressed it by now?

Yeah, and that's fair enough, parents have to be responsible. I appreciate it is really a cost issue for the testing, tough for manufacturers.

My PremierTek Youth and Senior helmets are the same model yet the youth has thicker foams making the interior size smaller. Due to this I can�t claim they pass both standards as a result due to the head form size being different when carrying out testing...yet the grille and shell are the same and have passed the 4.75 and 5.5oz tests for drop and penetration testing.

Yeah but it isn't on the list of lids that meet the standards, so maybe best avoided.
