1-2-1 cricket coaching (suggestions)
« on: August 29, 2019, 12:12:36 AM »

So essentially I'm looking for 1 on 1 coaching for my batting and was wondering if anyone has had and can recommend any companies or ppl in particular that they have made use of.

Thanks for reading!

Serious Cricket in Basingstoke if you’re near is very good. Good booking system, great facilities and the coaching is excellent.

Give gary palmer a call in oxfordshire. Top bloke and will transform your game with constant advice on technique.

I was about to ask for people in Oxfordshire, but Gary is incredibly expensive no?

Moving to Bristol in September

Give Pat @ GP cricket a bell, they have an Instagram with an email on it. rates are very good and he coaches out of Marshfield CC which is only 25 mins or so away from Bristol. Was involved with Gloucester at some point as a keeper batsman so has been exposed to high level coaching and translates it very well into his coaching.

Gary is extortionate and I actually didn't find his coaching to be that effective. To each your own though.

He preaches a very open stance approach with both shoulders and feet pointing down the wicket, I personally found it made me very early on pretty much everything as my bottom side took over, there's a reason the textbook says cricket is a side on game and almost all players that have been successful bat in a side on fashion

^ We should have a separate discussion on batting technique.

Does his technique not work? Against quicks? Steve Smith bats front on and he is piling runs like no one's business.
