World Record Attempt
« on: August 29, 2019, 05:45:03 AM »

My old club are currently in their 3rd attempt to regain the world record for the longest game of continuous cricket. Their aim is to play for 7 days nonstop (168 hours)

Each player isn’t allowed to leave the field the entire time and they must be the same 11 batsman and bowlers the entire time.

They started on Saturday at 4pm and aren’t due to finish until this Saturday at the same time, they must continue come rain or shine. The weather was horrendous on Tuesday but it did not stop play...

saw this on the news - What a storm!

How does it work then?  Surely those 22 players cant all play non-stop for 7 days without sleep. Do you have to sleep whilst the rest of your team is batting?

oh - and what about pooing! surely you don't just drop one on the outfield ?   :D

Haha!! It works as basically 3hr timed innings, each team bats for 3hrs, while your team is batting 5-11 sleep. You then field for 3hrs and the cycle continues. After 6hrs of play you are allowed a 20minute total all players break for 'tea/breakfast/midnightsnack/pooing'

What's the score?

No idea but i got back from an umpiring stint at 4:30am (you must have aco umpires on the pitch the whole time) and the 4 hour session I umpired saw a grand total of 35-0 off 75.
