5 grainer beast in making

These were the original specs.

1 - Face Width 108 mm
2 - Blade Length = 555 mm
3 - LONG, ROUND and THICK Handle with a diameter of 1.45 inches in thickness and 12 inches in length.
4 - Toe thickness = 30 mm
5 - Edge size = 40 mm
6 - Spine = 65 mm
7 - Some reasonable concaving up to 5 mm.
8 - Thick shoulders, currently at 17 mm
7 - Deep Asian bow/curve in the profile with a high middle to counter the thick toe.
8 - Weight = I originally asked for no more than 2.10 but he begged his life for 2.11, so I said OK.
9 -  Medium pressed
10 - 100% Fully knocked in and ready to play.

Finished product to arrive in two to three weeks. Will upload new photos then.

Are these SS made? I heard they were. Also heard all their bats sold in UK are made in England now. Not sure where tho.

That will give you time to hit the gym so you can swing it :D  Looks like a serious ball crusher!

Yeah, instead of hitting the gym, I am planning to take the shorter route by removing the stickers, and use a thin grip etc, to bring the weight down to 2.10ish.
Currently using a long handle Kook at 2.10 and happy with the weight.

I was curious too, as who is the manufacturer in India? Perhaps it is SS? I don't know.
From Paul (IJC), the Focus bats sold in England are, made in England.
Accept for a few top end ones, most of their bats sold in Australia are made in India.

So the theory is, the more you press (compact the fibers in the timber), the longer it will take in knocking-in and playing-in for the bat to develop the ping but the bat will last longer (as per Paul at IJC, most GM bats are like this). And theory continues that modern day bats are not pressed too much, which results in immediate ping but the bat doesn't last long. How true is all this? I don't really know.
I just asked for a medium press, which probably means, don't press it too hard or too soft.

I just asked for a medium press, which probably means, don't press it too hard or too soft.
That kind of sums it up yes. The advantage of hard pressed bat is that it will last longer. The disadvantage is that it may take a while to open up and in some cases even shrinks the sweet spot a bit. If you press it too soft it may open up pretty quickly but wont last very long plus the chance of it being dry. Soft pressed bats usually require more knocking in order to compress the face enough to prevent ball damage. A hard pressed bat you can usually take straight to nets to play in

There's a big thread on pressing stickied in the batmaking section... some people could do with having a read of it!

As for this stick, why the 30mm toe? Looks sort of like a Cor3 with more weight at the bottom.

My timing has gotten a little off-set while I tried to hit big. I noticed that besides finding the middle, often I was making the contact close to the toe area. May be I am swinging too early, or the ball is keeping low or it's not the right delivery to be thrown the kitchen sink at? I don't know.
So I thought to give this kind of bat a shot to makeup for the shortcoming in my own batting. ;)
