Is it you or us mate? :o :D

@Edward Lowy

Thanks for the response. Just an opinion. Still waiting for a gun GM bat so that I'm proved wrong, what can you do to help change my opinion so I can eat my words?  :)

Worth doing definitely. I did the tour 3 times as a retailer and learned something new each time.

Big GM fan.
Recently I think the higher middles and lovely heavy thick oval handles have thrown many people (me included)
I like a 2lb 9oz bat as a rule but to get the same pick up with an Icon/Haze/Eclipse I’ve gone higher weight (2.11 for 2020 Eclipse)
I wish I understood the pick up index better because an over dried low middle bat with a skinny handle is nothing like a modern GM but leads many people to go for the wrong weight.
I guess the balance on pressing is somewhere between; ready to play without breaking and too hard for some.
The forum is probably not the “typical” demographic - most cricketers are one bat, use it till it breaks merchants
I reckon I don’t keep many bats long enough to get optimum performance out of them - then again I rarely bat long enough even if I did.

Never buy a bat on weight. It's about the pick up.

I went last year and it was fantastic... great day and very open! Gained additional newfound respect for an already respected GM. My brother who is pretty blase about stuff and a very casual cricketer unlike us on here even enjoyed it.

In fact, my GM Noir is on it's way back for a refurb (if my brother remembers to actually drop it off for me   :( :( :( :( )

If you guys can make it I highly recommend it. If only they'd let you have access to the shelf that has piles of gorgeous bats that retailers won't stock because they can't shift them due to the odd stain or knot!!

Don’t care. The thought of going around the GM factory makes me more excited than it really should!

Down to Gm's quality control that, not the retailers

So what happens to those bats in question then? I've got what I believe to be a GM that belonged to James Vince (it's got JV in sharpie at the top of the handle so must be true....) - it came to me via Matt Coles just after he left Hampshire. Anyway, the bat has some knot marks and wouldn't I assume be top spec due to the blemishes. However it flies, one of the best bats I've had. Think it goes to show that appearance isn't the be all and end all as we seem to get too caught up in the grading.
