No, not always. You may get a low density cleft that isn't all that pretty though. They are definitely worth the money!

Cannot go wrong with either of these two brands. One thing I will say is that B3 have a firmer feel, and generally are ready to use without much prep. BB tend to have a slightly softer, whippy feel, so need to spend time prepping it. Personally prefer the handle shapes of the B3s I've had, tend to be a bit thicker. B3s and GMs I find eat the new ball for breakfast, very responsive, particularly against a harder ball. (Entirely personal feel, nothing scientific to it from me)

I was thinking of asking this for a long time- How does density of the bat impacts the performance.

Baseball bats are made from maple or ash and they moved from ash to maple because maple was more dense.
And denser bats are more preferred bats in base ball where else in Cricket lower density bats attracts more demand.

Why there is a such parity in 2 industries.

And adding to this sensible question, the density seems to have reduced in recent years (my Newbery Mjolnir is the same weight as modern bats but about half the dimensions!). Is it just due to the willow demand increasing so less dense due to this or has anyone ever shown the difference in power as result of density vs volume of wood. I think some is dried out these days to hit the large profiles that have become the new norm but doesn't mean old bats don't go?

Must be some physics to this somewhere as i thought the force was related to mass and accelerations (with a bit of length for moments chucked in) so in which case only the bat weight would really matter? I guess there may be a spring effect in there somewhere and that dense wood doesn't spring quite as much but is there really that much difference?
