Picked up my third chase R1 today after seeing Buzz visit the chase workshop and share a pic of this butterfly. It’s so light it’s unreal only 2.7 with grip and scuff I’ve added. It’s not big at all with 31mm edge 23mm toe but it’s very full shape and a lovely thick handle.
Asked for the vortex stickers just to change it up and actually prefer them

@SOULMAN1012 without wishing to steal a catchphrase from @InternalTraining 'how is the ping'?

@JTtaylor145 the ping is actually quite decent. The butterfly bar is very high up the blade so doesn’t come into the playing area at all so it’s not hard like a normally butterfly stain is. If I’m honest I would say it’s the same as a new GM on initial tap with a new ball, once it’s had a bit of time on a Bola I think it will be a decent stick.

My R1 has just arrived, scuff sheet and edge tape attached as I have every intention of using it as a nets/midweek friendlies/terrible weather bat. Just wondering what others who took advantage of the deal are doing in terms of preparation?

I am knocking mine in properly, in a way I haven't done for a bat in ages... mainly because the BB/Keeley bats I have had came knocked in. Also because I can feel the bat improving as I hit it which is rather nice.

I gave mine a light coat of oil, then applied a fibreglass scuff sheet. I'll now abuse it and hope there's not a catastrophic break...

I oiled and knocked the bat for 1.5 hours and took it to nets. Ping improved with knocking. Second net session there is crack on the righthander outside edge - https://imgur.com/a/BsF9unT. Will try the suggestion from @WalkingWicket37 to fix and see how it goes.

Mine get a bit of knocking in via tapping an old ball and driving drops into an old sofa on the top floor of my office and then a bit of Bola time. The higher middle one of my original purchase is pushing its way up the pecking order for this season and think the new one may run it close. The other will be a net bat only or sold on of someone at the club wants a cheap bat or back up bat I think

Do you ever work in this office? 😂😂

I prepared mine by selling to a friend at the nets, saves hours of knocking with a mallet. Fingers crossed it doesn't get one off those edge cracks...

Now banished to the garden, even the neighbours have complained about mallet noise. Maybe I'll just go with the 'bash it at the nets' approach from now on.

Unfortunately yes but a lot of time I’m the only person on the 2nd floor with my kit stored in the 4th floor so plenty of time to make lots of noise knocking in and tapping up. Most of my colleagues work from home but I never get in the mood when work from home just end up watching some form of cricket all day lol
