Cricket Bat DIY
« on: November 30, 2019, 01:48:50 PM »

hi guys, needed a bit of help with a bat i have, this bat is about an inch longer than a standard short handle bat, what i wanted to do is either cut of an inch of the top of the handle or an inch from the toe of the bat to make it a short handle size bat, what would you recommend? i was thinking the toe as it would help the balance in a positive way, and is the best way to do this with a saw and just cut off?

Is the handle a short handle or long handle length? If it’s long handle I would cut the handle down. If you take it off of the toe the middle will be lower and it will affect the pick up.
If it’s a long blade I would consider cutting the toe down but I would be mindful about the middle position and pick up and  e aware that it is a longer and more complex job. Reshaping the toe etc.
Either way good luck

In theory that makes sense. However in practice it makes no difference. And in some cases will improve the pickup of the bat. If you take an inch off the toe of the bat you are removing anywhere from 0.7 to 1 oz off the bat.
