1. What standard of cricket do you play?
I've played for my county age group from U10-15 though I won't be playing U17 this year. My local club team plays in Division 5 of our Saturday League and, although I was offered a place in a Division 2 side this season, I'll be playing for them again this year.
2. Describe to us your best innings (Score,Circumstances etc)
In the last league game of 2007 we needed a win to guarantee promotion and, bowling first, we restricted the opposition to 197. Although not a big score, it could easily have gone either way so I knew that it would be important to lay a solid foundation with the other opener. Little did I know that 33 overs later I would be walking off with the scoreboard reading 200-0 and 69* to my name to go with my partner's 98*! With 20 points under our belt as a reward for the 10-wicket win, we secured promotion and I moved into the top 10 of the Division batting averages in my first full adult season. Certainly an afternoon well spent!
3. Career Low!?
This would have to be season 2006 for me. A top score of 27 from a county batsman tell the story of a season of failure. I was forced to question my ability, my technique and my temperament but after a hard off-season in the nets, I bounced back and enjoyed my season yet.
4. Where would you like to be cricket wise in 5 years time?
I would certainly like to be playing regularly for my University XI and, on returning for the summer, competing in the Premier League. I think that my chances of a career in professional cricket have slipped by now though...
5. Favourite bat you have ever owned? Why? Where did you get it?
Purely for sentimental value, I would choose the blue Kwik Cricket bat with which I first learnt how to play cricket, spending hours in the corridor of my house hitting tennis balls and impersonating England batsmen. I still love the feel of tennis ball on hollow plastic.
6. Your the new england selector...what is your team for the 2009 ashes series?
Alistair Cook *
Scott Newman
Robert Key
Ian Bell
Kevin Pietersen
Tim Ambrose +
Andrew Flintoff
Stuart Broad
Chris Tremlett
Ryan Sidebottom
Monty Panesar
7. Biggest cheat you have played against? What happened? How was it sorted?
Played against a guy last year who decided to call 'yes' for the batsmen every time the ball was hit in an attempt to provoke a run-out. Ended with a big confrontation onfield and since the bloke couldn't exactly protest his innocence, he ended up backing down and being quiet for the remainder of the innings.
8. Funniest moment on a cricket pitch?
Nothing hilarious but in a county game a couple of seasons back a new batsmen went for a big drive on the up, completely mistimed it and somehow knocked it onto his grill. The ball then ricocheted to extra cover and was caught. The poor lad was laughed all the way off the field, almost in tears!
Hope these answers fit the bill
