I held Azhar Ali's Keeley bat recently.. Skinny handle like most keeleys...2.9, full specs with no concaving, 14 ruler straight grains front and back and the whitest willow possible.. Not sure he sells those sort of clefts at retail having seen quite a few shop g1s and 'pro' keeleys that float around here

I remember that bat. Beautiful!

So why do we think he makes thinner handles for non pros? The one I have has a fairly thin oval handle too. I would have thought that pros have better wrist control and less likely to need a very thick oval handle. Any thoughts?

Pros also face much better quality bowling so presumably want every possible advantage they can when it comes to aiding wrist control?

So thicker handles for better control? I thought it was the other way round. Oh well, I guess we all just play with what we like. I always thought thick oval was best for me, but as my legside shots develop I'm also liking thin oval.

Lovely bat and definitely a pro grade Keeley. Is that a butterfly just above the middle?  Give it a season or two and then....🙃

Its not a butterfly willow. I did use it in the nets for 15mins two days ago on my friend's behalf. The response is good but definitely need more time to reach its potential unlike SS or SG bats.
