Baseball shoes
« on: February 02, 2020, 02:18:46 AM »

Just wondering if anyone has tried using baseball shoes for cricket. I doubt anyone would use ones with cleats on any type of wicket but the turf ones look well suited to at least indoor cricket and nets.

The main advantages being more protection around the toes. You could also get them spiked out.

What do you guys think?

I wear baseball shoes regularly as I like snug fit and high ankle. They are comfortable and non slip on astro and indoor compared to normal sneakers. But I never worn them in actual match on grass wicket

As a groundsman, I'd politely ask you to go change your shoes if I saw baseball cleats being used on my square.

I tried different types of shoes and eventually settled on "trail runners" which have aggressive rubber treads. They provide amazing traction on uneven grounds and high grass situations. They are light weight and extremely flexible for fast turns. For astro pitches, they are great!

I look for end of season sales to get cheaper deals.

Brooks are my favorites. 6 seasons with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058ZZN4A/ . I also have the latest models which have even more aggressive treads. https://www.amazon.com/Brooks-Mens-Cascadia-Black-Orange/dp/B07889BTG8/
