Well he's on the thread, I'm sure if you asked nicely he might answer. He did say any questions...

He's not supposed to say, is he?

Mind you, if he answers questions well, I could quite easily see him becoming a 'forum trend'.

Then why ask the question?

If it puts food on his table, would that be a bad thing?

I have no idea why I bothered logging back into this place.

I think the convention is more "don't speculate on who makes bats for who" and don't pester batmakers about their commercial relationships. If a batmaker wants to say who they make for then I assume that would be fine.

He says he has a mentor is Huntingdon. I guess that connection could lead to him to work for brands commonly associated with outsourcing to that part of the world?

That is correct, I was lucky enough to earn a lot from Tony before he retired. I've also been lucky enough to learn from other master bat makers at another company. (did my time earning my stripes).

I make for currently about 15 other brands UK and further afield and do a lot of pros bats. Unfortunately I don't name them publically sorry (gentleman's agreement) as its their stuff so wouldnt be right. What's theirs is theirs as they say. But I'm sure if you look hard enough you soon see which are. I just love making bat's so doesn't bother me who they are for.

I am currently working on a pro bat this afternoon but can't remember how to attach images. Would show everyone if they are interested.

i) I didn't really. Only in a loose, 'don't expect any answers' way.

ii) Depends who  for? I have nothing against Mr James being rewarded for his skills.

iii) Nor have I.

Hopefully this works.

A bat I have made for a female Pro. 31mm edges, full profile with high spine and a toe guard (probably the only pro to have one) coming in at 2.7
