Jedi Cricket Abalest
« on: February 16, 2020, 07:04:29 AM »

Visited my good friend James at Jedi yesterday. He made me a bat at the start of last year and it's been a belter. I wanted another one the same size and weight but obviously had to wait for a special bit of wood that was light enough. There was a bat already made that was massive but it was 2.14. I struggle with my elbow now so the days of simdog throwing about that weight is long gone. So I asked James it he could get that down to 2.10 and to same shape as my current one and this was the result.

2.10 and a bit
42mm edges
30mm toe
60mm spine

By luck really because I was set on the bat I sent you! Picked up and tapped up beautiful. And funny enough that other bat I gave you the option of having got snapped up yesterday by the "mycricketgear" guy

Don't think James gets enough praise.. personally reckon it's his branding and have told him so too, especially with the star wars connection..

Dont know if it was done intentionally but it actually stands for James Edward Dollive international...

makes a cracking bat and a nice guy... good to see him getting some recognition on here...I've had a few bats off him and more than likely get another one off him..

The bat you sent me is a cracker mate and even if it’s a bit heavier than normal the pick up is decent and it’s also big enough up take some weight out, especially the toe it’s massive. I like the minimal stickers you have on the back as well looks a bit more classy that way I think. Is this a G1 Simmy?

Good choice! James is a top bloke and makes a really good bat. I have been using either an Abalest or Zaramax for the last few years (In a lower grade) and they have been brilliant!

Bat looks a stunner!! probably the closest bat maker to me so I think I’ll have a drive down and see if anything catches my eye especially after seeing that thing of beauty !

Great bloke to deal with as well, just quietly goes about his business no fuss or thrills.

As opposed to a certain somebody who only makes absolute betters that pick up 5 oz lighter than actual weight

Yeh I just take a few of the back ones off make it a bit cleaner .

No mate elite this one so G2. It has dirty marks on back but face is clean. Never fused for looks.

Instead of a new thread a big thank you to @Simmy for picking this beast out for me. It’s a bit heavier than I normally use at 2.11 plus change but it’s HUGE 39mm edge, 29mm toe and 27mm shoulder. Thick semi oval handle and it’s a G3 with superb performance, pressing is spot on. Simmy picked out a few and this was going to go in his kit bag if I didn’t take it so that was praise enough for me for the bat.

Bats now sorted for the season

30 mm toe. YEAH, that's what I am talking about baby.

The handle shape looks interesting on the bottom hand. Is it one of those pentagon, hexagon thingy?
