Bat rehandle advice

Hello,

Just a bat rehandled and got it back today and wanted to get some advice as to the job that has been done.

From the photos you'll see that some of the old handle splice remains at the bottom.. I'm a bit surprised by this but mainly from an aesthetic point of view. I assume there won't be any problems with it in terms of strength or longevity?

Any bat makers able to shed some light?

Who did it?

I suspect it will be because they don't have a jig that would allow them to cut to that size.

Hi,

Thanks for reply. I don't want to name who it was on the forum but they are a good bat maker albeit small operator.

It won't effect performance/strength will it?

The front view doesn’t look too bad, but from the back it’s a bit of a shocker. The new handle doesn’t even seem to be remotely straight.

I personally wouldn't be happy with it is all I'll say.

Can't advise much more without knowing who it is, you might feel they are good batmaker, but there might be people on the forum who've had poor experiences with them too. There could just as easily be plenty of positive about them, at which point it can be put down to a rare error, and you can be safe in the knowledge that it will be rectified when you approach them.

A collective consensus helps to warn others away from bad suppliers and inform them of good ones.

I don't think it will be an issue, as mentioned above it may be how the handle jig is set up and can't be easily adjusted.

On the line of the handle, it could be that the new handle is straight and the spine is off slightly.

Where was the bat originally made?

It is a Chase FLC. Lovely little bat.

Agree to a point but wanted to get others opinions before going back to the bat maker rather than just name them. Not had a bat rehandled before so was not sure what to expect.

Thanks for all your replies. The bat maker has actually been in contact with me having seen this thread and reassured me.

Looking forward to using it nets this weekend  :)
