Do you insure your bats when you post them?
« on: April 23, 2020, 05:35:33 PM »

Just wondering what people do in terms of insuring there bats, either when they sell them or send for refurb etc. I personally insure them all, as I use Hermes 99% of the time and can never trust them. But I know others that don’t insure them.

I’ve noticed a lot of the time if you go the post office and use parcelforce, unless you ask they don’t insure it either

Always use parcel force or Royal Mail and always insure for my own piece of mind and protection. Especially if ever sell via eBay and the buyer guarantee

I usually insure when I send with Hermes. I have never yet had a problem with them, i.e. I've never had to claim for a lost /damaged item. They once tried to fine me for an oversized item but I showed them photos of the parcel and asked for proof and they backed down.

Problem is that Parcel force charges over £10 to post a bat don't they? That's fine for a £200 bat but not so good for a £50 bat

Even the name itself is so weird - MyHermes sounds like MyHerpes.

Hermes was the ancient Greek god of trade (among various other things), so I think they were going for that angle.

If the word Hermes makes you think of a virus often associated with genitals that says more about you than the company in question, I'd think... :-[

Tonight on Channel 4 -

Tweet from Joe Lycett -
On tonight’s #GotYourBack we discover that @Hermesparcels are selling your parcels at auction. You read that correctly.
So we buy some, reunite folk with them, and then I get in a giant cardboard box and deliver myself to their HQ to confront them.
@Channel4 at 8pm.

I did use Hermes but they failed to collect a parcel twice recently, so have since been using Parcelforce and had no issues. They collect, are only slightly more expensive and you get £100 insurance included.

Just use interparcel. They offer price comparison for a range of couriers, with collection and drop-off options. There is insurance built in to the prices (albeit not a high amount but you can add more insurance for very expensive bats at a reasonable cost) and best of all they actually have UK based customer service available on a real telephone line, no nonsense web chat like parcel monkey and parcel2go.

Hermes are awful, there is a reason they are the cheapest.
