BBF (British Baseball) also today confirmed fixtures banned until August 1st.
No mention of “Natural vector of disease” mentioned though.

Err, no they said the bbf league starts on August 1st.
Nothing about fixtures being 'banned' til then, and of course there are many non bbf baseball leagues with their own timelines.

County cricket starting on August 1st

It will be interesting to see what the County Chairman vote on what format/s come back.

The Blast is a definite as it is the only thing that makes any money.

But I don't think all the Counties want to play a truncated FC format.

ECB issued guidance to clubs yesterday. Few highlights:

Quote
What will the game look like when it returns?
ECB Guidance on playing cricket at Step 4 will be released when Step 4 activity is permitted by Government. The core differences to normal play are yet to be confirmed but are likely to be:
1. Social distancing should be maintained where possible both on and off the field.
2. Regular cleaning of the ball and of players’ hands in hygiene breaks during play.
3. People should be using outdoor space as much as possible.
4. No use of changing rooms – arrive ready to play.

Just waiting on the government to approve

It's incomprehensible that it's taken them til July to come up with the exact same protocols I proposed on this site in April. Are they thick? Lazy? Apathetic? All of the above?

Recreational cricket is their last priority

Boris is saying teas are now the problem - bizarre reason. Simple solution would be bring your own tea

The ECB have 400 staff. Surely at least 1 of them must be charged with thinking about recreational cricket?

I get the impression those protocols would have been drawn up sometime ago.

As you've probably seen from Boris Johnson on LBC this morning now saying that changing rooms and teas are now an issue, I hope people are realising that its the buffon in charge of the country rather than the ECB directly and whom they're having to deal with

need to stop asking him questions...
This will now put the announcement (if it is indeed coming) back a week - then we get to a point (with having to give notice to clubs) that we start in Aug - by then is there any point in leagues restarting for something meaningful

The ECB could have pushed harder but ultimately this is a failure from the Government not the ECB.  If it is safe for pubs and restaurants to open to serve customers indoors from Saturday, there is no reason why we should not be playing cricket

ECB has shifted blame to the government - they pretty much covered everything in their document yesterday.

Playing cricket simply doesn’t benefit the government - why would they want 22 players to waste a Saturday playing cricket when they need them spending in shops and pubs.

Next week sight screens will be the reason why cricket can’t restart

The ECB have got to take their share of the blame, it's their job to get the game on. Plenty of other sports have managed it, and others that haven't have set out their plans far better.

One thing noone's saying is it's surely all about numbers at this point - Boris waffle aside, it's still only at max groups of 6.
