Lovely bat Chris,

Glad you decided to treat yourself to one.

Sorry to hear about your Wife's job. Maybe she has some time on her hands to do some knocking in for you?  ;)

I used to be the one criticizing GM bats for thin toes. But after using GM bats in particular harrow size where toe is thinner compared to SH I dont see any problem with them anymore. I noticed you dont hit toe at all unless you miss time or hit in anger. GM scuff sheet are good proof to see how high you hit bat actually as it covers with cherries very quick.
I compared GM toe to my Kookaburra charge and its not that of difference. Shape of GM that makes it look thinner

So anyone worried about GM thin toe put your worries to rest and buy/use a GM.

Wow what a cracking bat, I might be in the minority though as those see through stickers are a bit meh.

I personally like the see through stickers a lot. Only issue is that they haven't quite sorted out the glue and you can see blobs of glue under the see through edges, which tends to get a bit unstuck. Very minor issue though - generally great design

Yeah that's my only gripe with the LEs I have as well...

In all honesty the current stickers don’t stick that well on the edge of any of my GM bats. The Siren I have could easily pull away at the edges and also the toe sticker but with the clear ones you can if you look really closely see the glue blobs under the sticker. Minor complaint I guess.

Very true. I haven't had a single GM with latest style stickers where they have been stuck down on the edges. I can live with that for overwhelming positives though  :)

My other complaint for these Players Editions is for all that money please please please include some kind of cover or case! Every one I've had arrived with dents

Luckily mine was very well packaged as I would be annoyed if it arrived dented. I do fully agree that for this kind of money a bat cover should be included. A matching signed player edition cover would be a nice touch but worst case just a full length bat cover included. Think Paul from IJC has mentioned the same in his videos

Very nice PE bats. Do these bats or other grade GM bats need additional knocking or can be used in nets directly?

If I'd spent that much I'd be knocking it in regardless 😂

Iv always just taken my GM bats into the nets and knocked in via Bola balls. This one will get some mallet action on edges and toe just to be safe I think.

Other grades no issue at all and this one could certainly be used straight away.

So Iv finally got the bat Iv wanted for ages and also spent the most Iv spent in a bat in god knows how long.

Had our holiday cancelled for July which allowed this to be purchased but downside wife has been made redundant so will new certainly be my last purchase for a while but going out on a high.

This was purchased a few weeks back using the 20%off code at Talent cricket taking the price to just over £400 which is for this bat I feel a very good deal however still a lot of money.

So the bat is the L555 blade length so standard SH and the first thing I noticed was it’s HUGE. Only measured using a tape measure but true to GM listing the bat has 39mm edges and a totally full profile shape with a duck bill toe and a massive mass in the hitting area.

As you would imagine looks wise it’s stunning with 11 totally straight grains back and front and completely blemish free no marks specks what so ever. I have always liked 7-10 grains so 1 extra is a bonus lol.
Weight wise the bat is 2.10 bang on a has a GM pick up index of 3 which surprised me as picks up like a wand I would honestly have guessed 2.8 dead weight if I didn’t know weight was between 2.9 - 2.11 on the GM Website. Swell depth is 65mm according to GM so I assume that’s the spine height?

However the most notable difference to this and any other GM Iv owned is the pressing. This is much softer straight from the off even compared to my OLE neon this would easily be ready to go without any prep work which Iv always had to do with all other GM bats. Most of which Iv opened have been signature grade tbh so maybe that’s unfair to compare to but it really is notable how soft and springy this is tapping an old ball on it.

Few other bits of note, the icon stickers looks a million times better in the flesh than they do online etc and for a bat this stunning really allow the quality of willow to shine through. Handle to be seems a little thinner than the Neon and Siren I have but still fairly chunky but still a lovely semi oval shape. Only downside is the horrible hex grip so that will be changed

So in short something’s are worth waiting for and this has certainly been one of them.

That is a lovely piece of willow - question is, will it help you to an elegant 25 before nicking a wafty drive to second slip?  :)

Surprised there's no bat cover with a bat costing this much. Great looking bats though 👌

If that starts happening I’ll change the stickers and become an all rounder again bowling 85mph thunder bolts and single handed carry my side over the line every other game lol
