Puma Evospeed 4.0

Evening all

Picked this up from PDC for my club originally but not sure this exact one will make it there. Arrived today after ordering on Friday and I posted these in the Bargains section. Cost was £48 plus £3.99 postage

Graded as a G4 but personally I would say falls into the G2 category of grading with 7 grains, a clean face with some heartwood in RH inside edge and clean through the back of the bat as well.

Pick up is very good, weight is 2lb 9.3 ounces but feels very light to me, has a thick oval handle which no doubt helps with the pick up. Specs are not massive but respectable at 34mm peak edge, 23mm toe and 18mm shoulders. Moderate concaving but I would at say a huge amount personally.
Profile wise I would say it’s a mid profile for me middle but that’s just me.

The best part though is it’s initial performance, taps up an old ball really well with a lovely sound really does feel quite soft, leaves a couple of light indentations so will need a bit of knocking in. However this will be no more than a wet weather or net bat so will just use it as and when.

Overall the stickers are a bit in your face but decent and embossed, grip is a decent quality what I know as a players grip and branded and comes with a toe guard so the quality all round for the money is a total bargain. One downside is the scuff sheet that has come fitted is very cheap and horrible so will be removed and replaced with a decent quality scuff or maybe left blank as never used an uncovered bat and may choose to see if there is any difference.

Unfortunately for Puma they seem to be the most out of fashion brand out there. This is my first Puma since owing an Atomic when Geraint Jones was an idol of mine being a Kent fan and wicket keeper and I used that before my forum day for a couple of seasons and was a decent bat. Shame the softs are garbage in my opinion style wise otherwise I would certainly on this example consider them further.

By garbage I mean style wise over protection, I’m sure they do a decent job but pad are bulky and to me just look awful gloves are ok at a push but very loud design wise again, just not my cup of tea

That is a bargain. Have you used it much? How has it played?

I have a 2.0 Harrow on the way from PDC as part of my return to cricket random kit splurge. I have bought a pair of matching 2.0 gloves too though! Please forgive me.
