A few pics of various bits and pieces Iv been up to over the last week.

Note to self I must get a better camera on my next phone.

Clean up of the workshop and shaping of 5 SL06 profile orders with various requests for swell position. Also an arty pic kind of

Profile pics of the said 5 x SL06 shapes after initial shaping stage.

A couple of available clefts that Iv now takes to sanding the face prior to grading to allow a more accurate identification of what will sand out and what’s in the playing area. This is a lovely clean G2 all sapwood

Some new sample stickers on the G1 that I finished earlier this week.

My new match bat for this season Sanded, polished and fits comfortably through the gauge.

Trying to show the attention to detail that probably quote often gets overlooked, how the toe is rounded into the edge to allow the bat to slide in when running between the wickets and also how the blade is hand sanded into the toe to ease feathering of the toe.

Finally been playing around with the new profile shape I’m adding to my range and this one will also likely end up as a special offer on the bases of getting some feedback from those that use or have considered a higher swell position.

That’s very honest of you. Some would have put stickers over it and sold it as a G1.

Agreed.  Often an enlightening experience taking the stickers of a bat

Absolute nonsense. There is no correlation between the weight of a bat and it’s power at all.

Not correct at all sorry late to the party my old master taught me this I've been using a heavier bat currently than normal because im too early on the ball so slowed myself down with a heavier bat I remember this chat well.....

It is a scientific fact that Force = Mass x Acceleration, so assuming the bats are swung at the same speed, it is ludicrous and wholly wrong to suggest that a bat of 2lb 8oz will hit as powerfully as a bat weighing 3lb 3oz all things being equal

Nice looking shapes, Chris I like be the higher middle position shape

Nice looking shapes BTW Chris
For this reason, 2lb 11oz will hit further than 2lb 8oz as well, innit? Thanks for joining the party 😀

Assuming you can move it at the required speed...

Dave is correct and the article he linked is a very interesting read from Streaky - what he says makes a lot of sense

You should get a higher middle position shaped bat Dave, you have been striking the ball higher up and you are always wanting to add to your collection...

So here is the bat I originally made for myself for this coming season, slightly higher swell than I make in the stock SL06 shape as that’s just my personal preference. Weight is a shade under 2.10 and specs are modest with 35mm edges and a fairly full profile.

However the cleft I had on offer with the knot in the back that I put up for an offer price last week I managed to split slightly when fitting the handle. Spit is jut down from the splice on the front of the bat.  Totally my fault in that I took a bit off the handle as was quite snug and then went in doors to put the kettle on and picked up the wrong handle I guess from the bench. Fitted the handle clamped over night and then the next day started shaping it and noticed. This poor cleft isn’t having the best of times. Anyway shaped it into an AM18 profile. Will be some quite big specs on this once finished.

This will just end up being my bat for this season along with the other one as this may not last long! Fingers crossed as it’s as pingy as it is grainy.

Just waiting on a small order of stickers to arrive whilst I’m working on some new stickers with some design and quality tweeks.

A nice pair being made up this weekend for a local player who asked wanted a couple of bats and went with an SL06 and AM18 both 2.10 edges are 35mm in the SL06 and 38mm on the AM18.  Asked for the handle to be set slightly back. No idea what benefit this adds personally but only to happy to oblige. I normally set them over so slightly forward.

Both in G3 but are superb in terms of the response and with change from £300 for 2 bats was very happy.

Very happy with new batch of willow that arrived today. Some lovely clefts and grains on the first 6 Iv planned the face on. Handled a copy this afternoon as well.

Also one of the nicest G3 clefts Iv ever come across.
