So last few weeks have been a real struggle with the elbow fracture at the start or April and a tear to my MCL whilst hoovering the living room ( the most random injury ever)

But anyway finally managed to get a couple of orders done.

First was a super light 2lb 7oz SL06. Nothing to write home about specs wise with 30mm edge, moderate concaving and a round handle but pleased with the first one back.

Second one ( gold stickers) is a 2lb 10.5oz SL06 with a full almost convex profile and some of the straightest grains iv seen, match perfectly from back, through the how and into the blade. Lively cleft to work with also with a lovely semi oval handle.

Been a while since I shared what’s been happening in my little Suffolk workshop

Been making a few more traditional shaped bats as they have gone down well when people visit the workshop. When I say modern the edge size is between 27-32mm depending on weight and shape but been able to use some of the heavier clefts I always get at the end of each order and priced them at a G3 price point regardless of actual grade and this mix of lower price for smaller bat has worked well. Feedback has been great in that no one has said they feel less powerful or go less far than what ever they used before. Tend to be for the 2.7 -2.9 range mainly

Once again the AM18 has been the best seller, this is the 1/2inxh shorter blade longer handle set up and often those that have always used traditional pick these up and comment on the light pick up and once told most seem to say they never noticed and I think that’s something I’ve learnt that using the forum as a test centre is pointless as 99% of club players are no where near as nerdy as us lot and buy on reputation or price really from my 5 years ( 4th season with W&W )now making from the part mades.

Finally decided to still offer a small and simple range of sorts as the local authorities to me have never been in contact and tbh I have no idea where the industry stands on this PPE nonsense anyway. Focused on a single pad and split and sausage glove in white, navy and for next season black and gone with a carbon design on the top hat of the bats and lead fingers of the gloves. Looks best in black in my opinion but is subtle on the white and looks very slick. Been well received as price wise sifts are new mental so being able to offer a top end bundle for less than a set of pads from some places is a winner.

Also ordered early in terms of my willow and softs to ensure than for 2025 I will not be increasing prices as the cost of game is now at a silly level, lucky as a one man band working from home and as a second job/hobby I don’t need to rely on this but seeing and hearing of some of the increases for next year already it’s getting a very very expensive hobby now cricket.

How this stunner survived not being picked until the last couple of weeks of the season I’ll never know. 15 grains, even strip of the heartwood on the LH outside edge of which new owner is LH and why he picked this one. Finished 2lb 10oz with 37mm edge, 54mm spine, some concaving as bat is modelled on his previous bat which was a GM Mana so the AM18 profile shape suited very well.

Hi all

Made this one up last week as a super light version of the GM players edition ( Ben Stokes). Made for a dad at a local club who loved the shape of his sons PE edition but A) didn’t want to spend £700 and B) wanted something super light so the compromise was go local and get top grade willow at almost half the price ( could be less than half price when the new 2025 prices are released)

Finished weight 2lb 7.4oz. Think toe edge and thin shoulders with all the wood in the centre of the bat, semi thick semi oval handle
Grade 1 Willow

Anyway hope people like it
