Sorry guys – been a little slack with some reviews!! So, for you SS lovers out there.......
Part 1 (photo review)
SS Gold Edition
This was one that I wasn’t expecting! I asked Yash if he had any decent SS bats he could send me as I wanted to examine them. This was after he told me that I would love these bats!
I was dubious about this, as I am not a great lover of Asian bats generally. Or to qualify that statement, I have always thought the bats performed well, but cosmetically, the labels nearly always let them down! I know that the most important point about a cricket bat is how they feel, play and suit the batsman! But buying a bat and then feeling that you need to make the effort to remove the horrid stickers, clean the bat up, and put some nice stickers on isn’t something that interests me after spending £200 or so on a bat!
Yash was kind enough to send me 2 bats (both SS) to assess and purchase one or both if I felt the need – or to return both if I did not like either! But something told me that he realised that they were very nice bats, and that temptation would get the better of me in the end!
Out of both the bats he sent me, I was interested in the SS I eventually rejected. But changed my mind when I saw how nice the Gold Edition SS was! It weighs 2’11 and is beautifully finished with excellent pick-up – in fact I will be putting the bat on the scales to double check the weight as I would guess it’s actually 2’9!
It feels like a great bat – did the ball mallet test and it will go like a train! I mentioned the stickers earlier, as it looks like SS are really improving their bat stickers a lot! For once, I am happy to leave the stickers on and actually think it looks gorgeous ! It’s not knocked in yet as I am trying to knock in another 3 bats currently, with another 40+ to go!
If anyone actually enjoys knocking bats in, then please let me know as they will take my weeks and weeks!!
Anyway, back on the topic – hope you all enjoy the photos!
