After being very impressed by the Scott bats on the forum I got in touch with Jonny. He had recently posted a prototype shape for next season and I liked the look of it. The bat in question was possibly going to be slightly above my weight range when finished so he pointed me in the direction of a Bat in a previous post that was in a similar shape but slightly lighter.

Legal Tender was exchanged and the bat was on its way to me! I had a few updates of collection and expected delivery along the way which is always a nice benefit of going with a smaller maker.

Must apologise in advance for the quality of photographs, my ability in that skill certainly hasn't improved in the years since I last posted a review!

Must also apologise to Jonny for not taking a photo of the lovely padded bat sleeve that was included. I got it packed away before my significant other returned from work! Might be able to add pics of this at a later date. And also thanks for the lovely introductory note included - again a personal touch you dont often get.

Initial thoughts -

LARGE. For the weight, bang on 2.10 on my scales, this seems huge to me. Not only around the middle but also looks solid around the shoulders and thick right into the toe which is where durability is often sacrificed for weight. Looking forward to getting on the bowling machine in December covid willing.

Graded as a 2 which I think is correct. Small strip of heartwood and the grains run straight through the toe. Grading is largely Irrelevant to me as I am all about performance.

Handle I would say is thinnish, just how I like it. Certainly thinner than the GM handle but possibly not quite as thin as a Keeley handle. Have to add that this was supposed to come with a black grip but Jonny changed it to a white at my request.

Jonny offered a toe guard but I prefer shoe goo so he did that instead.

Stickers are fantastic both in design and quality. I would say they are as good as Ive seen. Embossed as Ive tried to show and bold but not in any way overbearing. Very classy. Big fan of that

Service was superb throughout and I would recommend Scott bats for sure. Obviously this was a stock shape but Jonny did offer to make one to my requirements aswell. Once I saw the size of it I was sold. Price very reasonable for a G2, certainly less than the big boys. Overall very happy and will try to update after a net

First run out tonight for this beast, after a gentle 15 minutes against the machine, braved it in the bowlers net and wow, got a few drives out of the screws. Definitely a generous sweet spot, got one high up the blade hitting a spinner straight and it still travelled.

Press feels softish but looking at the face after there was next to no marking.

Overall very impressed with the response and this is after only about 20 mins knocking in. Cant wait to use it again!

So a quick review of the Scott gloves and Bag that I recently purchased to go with the Bat. Apologies the pics aren't great

Quite a common design for the gloves and one Ive had before from another brand, so knew I liked. A few nice extra touches on these as pictures show. Some nice subtle embossed logos on the fingers and a good quality velcro strap on the wristband.

Nice minimalist design again, nothing flashy but works well. Nice leather palm, not quite sure of the exact material but feels soft and supple.

The fit is slightly larger than perfect for me, I prefer a snug batting glove. Simply solved with a thin pair of batting inners to get the feel how I like them. Just something to consider for potential buyers.

One thing that lets them down is the stitching, which is irregular/uneven in a few places. Shown in the last picture. I appreciate that this is a manufacturing fault not a design fault and theres not much you can do once they are delivered from India but it does take away a touch from what is otherwise a nice glove.

Now the wheelie duffle bag. At first glance it looks a very nice bag. Again simple, clean design. Material seems good and zips look solid. Obviously the real test will be after some use but theres no indication they wont last

Doesnt yet stand up when empty which is a slight shame but nothing major, im hopeful it might when it been filled with kit for a while to form some shape.

A Large main compartment accessed from the top. Looks easily big enough for all batting kit.

Zip away bat section with 3 sleeves.

Boot section at the bottom which actually looks big enough for 2 pairs.

Small cool pocket with drinks holder is a lovely touch.

2 extra side pockets which could possibly be used for small items of clothing /cap.

And one central pocket on the front which could be used for valuables.

Only 2 wheels which could be a let down if you intend to wheel it but i foresee mostly using the back-pack straps.

The back pack straps themselves can be unclipped and tucked away into a mesh pocket on the back. Really nice touch

Onto the size - for me this wouldn't be big enough for a match bag. I bought it specifically for training where I dont need all the extra bits I take to matches. However I suspect for 90% of cricketers it would be plenty big enough for matches.

Overall very happy with the bag

Like all duffle bags, the base is a little bent initially (due to the way it�s folded and packed in transit). This is why it�s not standing up. I would try and �unfold� the base as much as possible. Pack the bag, and Put some weight in the shoe tunnel (lots of balls, or even a dumbbell); and then lean the back side of the bag slightly against a wall, and after a few days the base will be straight and the bag will stand up fine.

Hi mate. Glad you're happy with everything and thanks for the review. It really helps me to look at tweaks to improve things moving forwards.

As Brokenbat says it may just need straightening out slightly. There are foam inserts added in the sides, which add padding but also help it stand. In transit these get a little bent, so may also need flattening slightly. If you saw the overview on my Instagram, then you'll see my one stands fine with no kit in.

Surprised it won't fit all your kit, as it's a big bag......but then this is CBF! 😂

I specified larger wheels and made sure these were at the edges more, as previous bags I've used have had smaller wheels which don't seem to provide stability, so hope these improve that.

I'll take all the feedback onboard and use it moving forward, so thanks again 👍

That makes me laugh only on the forum 😂 think there is a gap in the market here for forum game day transportation device (aka the transit van), must contain space for 15 bats - match bat, spare match bat, spare spare match bat, net bat just in case, wet weather bat and 10 bats for team mates just in case

😆 Yeah I think as mentioned that's probably a CBF specific issue! I tried to make it big enough, without it being too big. Just remeasured and the dimensions are roughly 100 x 40 x 40 (excluding side pockets), so it's a big bag with keepers pads fitting in the side pockets.

That's not including the 3 bat tunnels not in these measurements, as they're separate to the main compartment. Admittedly 3 isn't enough for most on here though! 😂😂😂

Just to clarify - the reason its not big enough is all the extras i take apart from equipment. Groundwork clothes for the morning, warm up kit, post game clothes, towel, toiletries, lunchbag, shoes etc. I like to have it all in one place rather than carry a few seperate bags.

If you want a bag to only carry your actual cricket equipment then this should be plenty big enough.

Yeah i think its just where its been stored flat. The base is actually flat and solid but the sides dont currently support the bag vertically. Will leave some kit in it for a few days and they should straighten up.

Hope you don't mind me posting on this thread and an apology to @jonny77 its taken me so long to post.

Over recent years due to other commitments I've reduced my bat collection as I just don't play that much. Having looked around at buying a second bat and being really keen to try and source a full profile such as the GM epic or trott profiles I just couldn't stretch to have one knocked up by the likes of B3 I posted on the forum to see who could knock something up reasonably full. I was lucky enough to receive a few options of both second hand but also John at redink, Jonny, Soulman and Leachy all reached out. It transpires my work base is 5 minutes from Jonny, so went for the local Yorkshire option (I'm sure all the guys would make a fantastic bat and it's great to see the recent posts). Seeing one of Jonnys posts of something he'd made up that took my likely based on the similar profile / weight to my other bat I took the plunge.

I've attached a few photos vs my addidas bat (this was one of Sean Ervines). The Scott bat is 2.10ish with a thicker handle vs the addidas at 2.11. Pleasure dealing with Jonny and looking forward to having a hit in the coming months.
