The toe has dried out really well and is a lot more "solid".

I am left with the original crack running through part of the base. Assume; fill with super glue and add a toe protector?

Fill with glue, clamp it or tightly wrap in parcel tape, leave overnight, sand down, add a toe guard if you like.

Agree with the above. Wrap in parcel tape from the front face to the back. Though I think you’ll have a job fitting a toe guard without flattening the toe off first
