Toe starting to rot

Found an old favourite bat but some issues from a cracked too which has since got wet and started to rot!   Is there anything that can be done?

Use orbital sander and grind it up good until you remove the rotten portion. Seal it will gorilla wood glue or shoe goo. You may loose 1/4 to 3/8 inch of toe but bat looks salvageable. Cheers

Thanks - bit lacking in the tools department!  I will try and find someone that has one. I guess a bit of an effort to use my sheets of sandpaper on it  :D

Depending on how much you want to save the bat, I'm sure it's something one of the bat makers/menders on here could help you with.

Use a needle and syringe to inject waterproof PVA glue into the toe. It’ll harden it and work effect the overall size of the bat. I have used it many times and it works really well

So no sanding first?

Correct. No sanding needed at all. The glue will firm it up nicely.

Personally I'd sand it into an angled toe. Really easy to do with any cheap sander. Then shoe-goo it.

Sorry for the many questions, if trying this route approximately how much glue is needed? or the other way of looking at it - how do you know when enough?

Not known for my bat repairs - we are lacking an expert at our club!

A syringe full of glue will be more than enough. Put the needle into the toe as far as it will go and inject the glue in as you remove the needle. Move a few mm away and repeat. Keep doing this over the whole toe.
Hope that makes sense.
