Best Teamwear Provider?
« on: November 19, 2020, 10:51:34 AM »

So I've been stupid enough to agree to source our new teamwear for 2021 and beyond - we change kit on a 3 year cycle to try and keep the costs to players at a minimum.

I wanted to get people's opinions on good providers of teamwear? We've used Surridge for the past 6 years and whilst the kit is absolutely fine, the retailer we used has been a little on and off over the years so we're looking to change.

Any have any suggestions? The plan is to order a bulk amount to start (including kit bundles with membership this year) and then for a club shop to be live for players to order kit as and when they need individually. I would've done it myself but new business ventures away from cricket mean I haven't got the time to embroider all the kit for minimal return to be frank!

Cheers in advance :)

My club has used Gray Nics through Owzat Cricket for the last few years with varying levels of success. Personally there are a few too many mistakes for me to recommend it.

I’m talking along the lines of stitching not being there, sponsors being missed and still a two week turnaround for orders. On the other hand, we have liked the way individuals can order as it has saved the club a lot of hassle of bulk orders, members being upset if they miss out etc.

Thanks @ch1p - Gray Nics is actually a no go unfortunately, approached them directly but they weren't having any of it due to my involvement with the club (bit petty lol).

2 week turnaround is pretty good I would say. Had a club visit me in the summer and there turnaround with there embroider was 8 weeks, and they thought that was good

NXT Masuri have been very good for us, 2-3 weeks for every delivery and the product is very good. only issue is that was a little on the high priced side so we also have a page with all rounder, they have been a lot better the last season since they went back to embroidery rather than printing everything.

we have been using JS sports in Stoke - On- Trent, they do for a LOT of clubs in Staffordshire, generally, orders are turnaround within 20 days, be worth a message, I know they work closely with a few suppliers

Serious Cricket do a pretty reasonable range of teamwear, good selection of match day and training kit. Prices are pretty reasonable too.

Sorry should have said it’s more of an “attempted 2 week turnaround” but the amount of stuff we have had arrive on a longer timescale with mistakes has been huge. The club asked for a “est. insert year here” which I think during busy periods was just completely forgotten and still charged for 👎

Yes my old club used Serious Cricket and would be definitely take a look at them. The delivery charge if you are buying by yourself is a bit steep but that is easily fixed if you speak to team mates at the start of the year etc...

I always found their kit decent and well priced plus the club shops on their website are very easy to use.

This is my old clubs clubshop if you want to have a browse -

There is a cricket helmet company i seem to recall that has a team wear arm. You might have heard of them Ayrtek... You could speak to them... 😉 @Ayrtek Cricket

My club, like many, use ICON Sports UK. They have a three year sign up, not mandatory, but with it come discounts, a loyalty bonus type thing. Run by top lads, proper cricket people. Also, another decent bloke with good prices and kit, is Select Cricket. I recently won £750.00 worth of cricket gear in a raffle from Select and I have to say the bat is an absolute belter.

CA Sports offer fantastic kit. Great quality at a very reasonable price point. I'd definitely recommend them.

Now they have a UK base, their service is also top notch!

I set up a club page for my club via a local sports shop here in Sussex - we use GN for the kit and all has been well so far. Turn around within 10 days during season but can be up to three weeks during the winter. I like their training kit more than the playing kit. One of our  players has a connection to Icon (when he played in Aus) and has provided some trial club kit which looks good too, so may switch to them in the longer term - lead times there seem longer.

Both my lads Sussex junior kit comes from Mr Cricket (its Surridge) and comes very quickly.

Club web page is the way to go, many of the parents of our juniors buy for presents etc. and its handy to buy when you want rather than waiting on a bulk club order

This is the advantage of suppliers who also provide a club webshop (Gray Nics, Serious Cricket, etc). None of this mucking about with club wide kit orders.

We found it easier going via a sports retailer to set up the page. When approached GN direct they were great initially , came up with designs etc. but then never provided an agreement (they wanted 2 years). this way we have an agreement via hand shake ( remember them?)  and a web store for the club via a retailer so have option to change brands
