Have you ever found a suitable pair of batting pads ?
« on: March 05, 2010, 11:55:05 PM »

I'm now 35 and I've never had a pair of batting pads which I've felt 100% comfortable in, tried most of the top brands and styles and never ever found a pair id recommend ? Aero, Slaz, Puma, Newbery. GN, Kook, Warsop, GM etc etc etc I've tried them all and never found a pair of gloves  I'm happy with.

I could recommend bats, gloves, helmets, Clothing , Bags etc but not pads ?

Have you ??

yes 2 times

gray nics....test opener 1995 when the new air cusion priciple came out
Newberry sps1 the old ones with the blue backing quality

i would not use kookaburra pads there top hats are just too big in my time wearing them.

might sound daft here

but i had a pair of hunts county clippers last season they fitted snugly and without doubt good protection only problem slightly heavy

OOOHH i like a high rider but stop that lol,  I've not found a single pair that I'm happy with in regards to size, weight, fit, length, width and everything else. For me pads are more than disappointing especially top end ones.

Funny topic this, there was a discussion at nets about this !

I have had more pads come through here than cricket direct !

i have nether found my perfect pair of pads, how ever i have been close with a pair pontings actuall rp's and some newbery sps pads.

A hybrid of the two would be lovely, but im not paying £140 to get some one off's made !

be interesting if somebody started making bespoke pads ala like remfry does with protection but unless you know what you want it still would be hard unless he made them in this county and you were there.

prices would be high and a non runner but intresting.

ref kookaburra pads i find them the worst of a bad bunch big top hats and stuff best pads i have ever seen looking wise were a pair of BDM'S aa old indian pro had

the idea of custom pads is a good one in theory but imagine the costs and with no guarantee they would last i suspect they would be a non starter.

I'm sure they would be cheaper than that to get made and once rrp'd up less than a tonne. Would anyone willingly pay £120 for sone pads?

Materials could be "pimped" as we have looked into it a while back but would be very light and remove traditional canes to be replaced by newer materials

No-one rates GM, but my 606's have done well, fit me fine not too heavy and protection is very good :)

In theory ut can be done but custom sets would be a ball ache as there would need to be moq on stuff to get a competitive price when having the bulk of the pads made
