Win a bat and help your club
« on: January 01, 2021, 08:25:43 PM »

Tomorrow I’ll be launching a new project to hit a few specific things that I hope you guys will be interested in joining in.

1. I wanted to get more equipment in but couldn’t justify buying 20 pairs of gloves etc year.

2. A lot of people would love to own some of the top end gear but don’t fancy ponying up the money or it’s out of their price range.

3. Charitable donations have been drying up for many organisations.

4. Clubs (like mine) that have had to close because of covid restrictions are now in a dire situation.

So based on a recommendation from a friend I’m going to be raffling off all the cricket equipment that I won’t be using after I’ve reviewed it. All the profit will be split between a cricketing charity and the winner’s local club. The shipping will be covered so anyone in the world can enter.

Cost will be between £1-5 depending on what is being raffled but each raffle will have 2nd/3rd place prizes too. You can buy as many tickets as you want but the number of tickets available will be fixed so the odds won’t be ridiculous.

If this works out then I’ll be able to buy more stuff to review like pads bags etc as I’ll have an easier way to offload them after reviewing.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. And if you’re wondering what will be offered there’s currently a Stokes PE, Hales PE and two SS super selects amongst the lots that will be available.

I’ll be posting this message in other places so apologies if this isn’t the first time you’re reading it!

Oooft, if anyone thought I was thorough with reviews - they should give MyCricketGear a follow on Instagram. Puts me to shame!

How are you going to do the raffle out of interest? A common and seemingly fairly perceived way is the National Lottery Bonus Ball system- just a thought

Don't do Instagram but saw your bat narrowing video on Youtube and thought it was good video.

The link for the raffles is raffall.com/mycricketgear, so you won’t need Instagram to access it. I will be doing videos on there though showing the items in more detail during live sessions so people can ask about the bats.

Raffall.com will host and run it for me, so I’ll have nothing to do with running it, just sending out the prizes once the winner is drawn. There will be a fixed number of tickets and multiple prizes to give people more chance and a fairer opportunity to win.

We’ll also have other items that we’ve reviewed to clear. Just putting together a mixed lot of stuff for one raffle that contains a Newbery Legacy coffin, GM OLE pads and a couple of thigh pad combos.

Hey @mycricketgear - nice idea! Just wondered if you could share how the money raised will be split?

For example on the SS Super Select the raffle totals £3.5k - do you have a fixed split on how the money will be shared? (X% to charity / admin fee / item costs / profit etc?).

I'm sure you'll get some interest off CBF, but I assume some will be hesitant to enter without knowing exactly where the cash is going (We've been burned in the distant past by this sort of thing that's all!!).

Keep up the great work 👍🏻

Thanks for the message. So obviously there are some costs involved, namely the items themselves, the fees that raffall.com take, the shipping costs (worldwide if the winner is overseas).

Raffall.com has some of the charities listed already so we can link them in directly to the raffle, they will receive 25% of all the money raised. If the charity (e.g. Lords Taverners) is not on the list we have made a request to raffall.com to have them added but will still be setting aside the 25% to send to them directly until they are added. After all the costs have been deducted the remaining profit will be sent to the first prize winner’s local club of their choice. Or if they prefer they can choose for it to go to another good cause of their choice.

The amount raised means we can cover costs by including overseas shipping. UK shipping would mean more profit going to the local cricket club portion as the costs to send would be much lower.

One thing we found out since starting is we're only allowed three active raffles running at the same time. So we’re offering to do a free draw of the GM OLE pads with an RRP of £149 next Sunday for anybody that buys a raffle ticket between now and then. Hopefully that means more people will take part. It also means you won’t have to wait for the allocated number of tickets to fill up to be in with a chance of winning the pads.

Feel free to keep asking me more questions and offering advice about how to manage things. On a side note, any recommendations for things we should be buying to review which in turn can be offered for raffles would be great. I’ve currently got my eye on a Laver Signature and maybe some more Oz bats. The stupidly overpriced Shrey helmet is also on the list, I would normally never buy something like this but if the raffling works out I can get it in to review and offload it to someone in a raffle.

One final note. As I’ve mentioned earlier the draw will happen as soon as the quota of tickets is sold (500 in the case of the BS PE bat), but what happens if all the tickets aren’t sold. The draw will still happen regardless of whether we hit that number. If the number of tickets is too small and we can’t cover our costs the bat won’t be sent out, but you will automatically win 75% of all the money collected. For the SS Raffle when fully subscribed it’ll be £3.5k so 75% of tickets sold will probably be worth a lot more than the price of any of the bats. That provision is provided by raffall.com not us. It’s a big reason why we wanted a 3rd party running it and not us, to help provide protection to people buying the tickets. Funds are only released to us once the winner confirms they’ve received their prize.

Nice one, thanks - just genuinely interested as anything that can helps clubs (and charities) is great in my books, being on a league committee I know all too well the impact of COVID on local clubs so anything that can raise a bit of cash for these is awesome. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help too.

Thanks to everyone that's bought a ticket or shared it with other people. We've already managed to hit 100 tickets sold so we're on our way!

Just a quick update. We've hit 200 tickets, and doing the draw for the pads at 3pm. If anyone wants to join the draw they'll need to purchase raffle tickets by midnight. Also announced the next free draw will be any pair of gloves to the value of £100. So if you enter before midnight you'll be able to enter twice for the free draws!

Hi Guys
Brought forward one of the raffle draws to 1am Sunday morning. Appreciate all of you who’ve already bought tickets. Could I ask you to share this in your own club’s group chats. Maybe useful for anyone who’s looking for a bat at the moment!

Just a quick reminder of the prizes.
1st GM Ben Stokes Player Edition RRP £660
2nd GM Eclipse Original £440
3rd GM Chroma Signature £165
4th GM Siren Middling Bat £54

See the link for photos. Winners will receive free shipping so it’s only the price of the ticket. Profits are going to the charity Cricket Builds Hope, with any excess being sent to the local club of the first prize winner.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the GM raffle. First prize went to Marc at CricketBatInfo, who immediately flogged the Stokes for a wad of cash!

The raffle for the DSC bats (First prize is the Hales Player Edition) is tonight for anyone interested in joining. The charity we’re supporting this time round is MCC Foundation.

Hi Everyone

We have another raffle running at the moment, with the draw on Monday at 9pm. We’re raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young in honour of Josh Downie from Birkenhead Park CC who sadly passed away in May.

Cbf members have been successful in previous draws with Marc from cricketbatinfo winning the Stokes, and Luke in Yorkshire winning the DSC Hales PE.

In this raffle we have the Ross Taylor, 2.10.4 nice grain structure, decent specs, love the pickup and pings really well too. You can see a video of me testing the bat on my Instagram page. Second prize is a DSC Pearla X3. Anyone who buys three or more raffle tickets will be in a bonus draw for a pair of Diamond Original batting gloves, only 5 names in that one at the moment.

This is the link to enter. https://raffall.com/266913/enter-raffle-to-win-gm-ross-taylor-pe-bat-hosted-by-my-cricket-gear
