SH Woodstock Tour de Force
« on: January 22, 2021, 02:56:57 PM »

I took a gamble on this bat from a well known auction site
No weight. No size. But looked good and was very well priced.

It’s arrived today.
I’ve no reason to doubt it authenticity but it’s been ages since I’ve used a Woodstock so what do you think?
Skinny oval handle - very like my Keeley
11 grains mostly straight if a little bit uneven
I removed a light brown toe guard
The scuff is quite thick and only fitted flush to front of blade - does not wrap over edges at all
Stickers all genuine and in the right places
The initials ED are stamped in shoulder.
It’s SH Traditional shape. About 2lb 7oz with one grip.

My plan is a gentle refurb & new stickers - just value your knowledge

Looks a nice bit of willow on first impression. Doesn't look any different to the Woodstocks I've seen in the flesh.

Any chance of a profile photo to see the size of it?

If it isn't a legitimate Woodstock then somebody has done an excellent job of faking it! Imagine it will tidy up very nicely.

I think the early ones were Newberys as the guy at Woodstock worked there for years, lovely bloke I met him a few times.

Hopefully I'm not going to get sued by saying Woodstock didn't make them. Doesn't look Newbery made to me but could be wrong.

The profile shape on the back looks familiar but can't put my finger on it.....maybe Aldredish....strangely cos don't think he had anything to do with them, I guess you never know these days

That could be right or less than that I’m not sure myself

I’m now curious who made this Woodstock in the photo for no rational reason!

There will be someone on here who knows I’m sure of that  :)
