Basic Thigh Pads for Poo Batsmen (The Anti-Buzz)
« on: February 24, 2021, 08:38:59 PM »

So here is a very specific request - I think I have come full circle,

I have tried the Aero P2 and also some other 'inny - outy' thigh pad sets, and basically I find them cumbersome and obstructive. I'm not sure if it is my mahoosive plums, or my COVID-girth, but I cannot get comfy with them.

I play at a poo level with very gentle bowling, and I am thinking of going back to the old, skin-tight shorts with the outer pad in the outer pocket.

Does anyone have any recommendations for these - I used to use the Kookaburra shorts and they seemed to work quite well.

I am basically the 'Anti-Buzz'

I used to use both inner and outer pads and they used to constantly slip down. Not sure if you having same issue. If yes  then What I noticed solved that problem for me was to stop using inner pad. Now only use outer pad which stays in place most of the time and much comfortable on its own

You don't really need a thigh pad in low level club cricket, althogh most seem to use them nowadays.

I have seen Adam Lyth bat for Yorkshie wearing the short-type set-up. How did I know he was wearing them? He pulled his trousers down to adjust, mid-innings.

The Gunn & Moore ones seem to work alright.

I thought Adam uses Remfry’s.🤷‍♂️  Maybe he’s tried a few different options?

Was a few years back, I'll admit. I doubt the bowling was any slower then though.

To save starting a new thread. Does anybody wear the padman shorts but use better protection thigh pads in there instead of using the basic foam they provide?

I’m thinking about doing this to save any issues with straps

Wes Durston used to wear his Strettons under his compression shorts, for the same effect

That’s a decent idea. How do you know he did that?

I was a performance analyst in a past life, so spent some time in a couple of dressing rooms.
He was also exceptionally superstitious about people touching his bats. He kept a spare in his car in case of emergency.

I'm sure people on here have posted about doing it in the past, does seem a good idea. Will likely give it a go myself if I can figure out what to do with the box.
