HELP!!!
« on: March 20, 2021, 06:51:25 PM »

hi, just started knocking this bat in and this has happened, literally hit it the the mallet around 10 times, there were 3 little cracks? that were on the bat when i bought it direct from batmaker, not sure if there pressing cracks or what, the long crack seems to be an extemsion of that, a little worrying that its going across the blade.. what should i do? am i asking for alot if i want to send it back for a replacement, this should happen to a brand new bat.. it is a butterfly bat so i am sure most can guess where its from

Most likely would like know to which bat mallet you've used?
Yes, it looks very dry!
Recently, he's been saying don't go nuts when knocking on your bat give it time.

And this is why I never have, and never will, knock in a cricket bat.

would it have been better to start netting with it straight away, wouldnt that case the same problems?

I'd definitely expect that to come back if I'd sold it.. I'm sure if you speak to the batmaker you'll get sorted.

Looks like pressing damage or storm damage to me.

I’d expect that to come back for a straight replacement.

I’ve also heard that the batmaker in question has previously had issues with stuff like this

That is definitely one to send back.

Pressing cracks happen and I have had a couple picked up as seconds to use as net bats that have held up to a reasonable amount of use, but it takes elite level honesty from a manufacturer to send damaged bats out to customers as full priced goods

Hi guys, this feed has come up in almost perfect timing as I think I have a similar issue...granted its not as serious as Ronnie's however I was hoping someone maybe able to help /advise. I bought this just 2 weeks ago, started to knock in the edges and toe and just this morning applied a second oil coat and noticed this crack straight down the centre, is this a pressing crack? I am unsure myself but worried now as its perfectly in the middle of the bat and I am yet to do anything with the centre (only knocked in edges and toe) so it's not even been hit at all. I do also think there's a similar one running down the next grain however this is harder to picture. Worried as I've noticed it as soon as I have applied oil so presume it has got in and made it visible...shall I contact the manufacturer, or just glue and tape and hope it doesn't grow?
Thanks in advance
